I just made a new character and she hit level 1 skinning now anything I skin that is orange to me I am not getting any level ups. However I do level up on my Leatherworking. Is there a bug on this? Right now I should be seeing a skill up point everytime or at the very least every other time I skin something.

Where are you skinning? If you want to level up basic skinning you need to be in Kalimdor or Eastern Kingdoms. If you’re in one of the expansion areas you’ll only be able to level up the skinning skill associated with that expansion.

If you are in blood elf areas, it is only offering Outland skinning skill-ups not vanilla, since the zone was added in TBC. Most likely a bug, however fishing also has does the same thing for awhile. Herbalism seems fine, but have not been able to test mining yet.

Which Expansion you trying to Skin in. You need to have Skinning for the expansion your SKinning in. Your Factions Capitol will have skinning For Vanilla and Cataclysm, as for skinning for the other expansions you need to visit each expansions Capitol to obtain that expansions Skinning.
