Skinning creatures that have the “orange” skinnable tag are rarely giving skill ups. whats the deal? it’d be one thing if they were “green”.

Gathering profs don’t work like crafting profs that way.

I almost never have made a high level skinner, but orange herbs and mining nodes are 100% skillups on orange up success. Yellow also has a much higher success rate than crafting profession yellows, though that could be my own memory bias.
If skinning is different for orange, it’s the only exception. Maybe because you can find a host of mobs to skin in the right area whereas mining/herb is slightly less reliable to farm.

Just to make sure, you trained the new rank right? I completely forgot to for mining and wasted a bunch of skill opportunities.
yeah im 242 skinning and yetis and other feralas creatures that are “orange” barely get me a skill up like 6-8 skins
edit: p1 and p2 was not that either, each skin that was “orange” was a skill up
It gets like that at higher levels
Orange isn’t guaranteed it’s just a higher chance
