while leveling and playing for the war within, my skinning profession was maxxed out rank wise (100/100) but i do not get any knowledge while i skin the bodies of the animals in game. other professions are getting their normal knowledge points just wondering if it is a bug for skinning or not.

I haven’t been on a gatherer yet but I haven’t gotten any random drop items for my crafting professions yet. Is there confirmation that the random knowledge items are dropping for the other gatherers or are they just getting the incidental knowledge from first type gathering (which skinning did not get in dragonflight either)?
Did you unlock a specialization? I couldn’t see my knowledge points in skinning until I did so. In fact, I forgot all about knowledge points in Skinning until I saw this thread and went to check.
Once I unlocked the specialization, I had 6 knowledge points. Which isn’t a lot for a 100 skill level but I have only done skinning in the first zone so far. I think we only get a point the first time we skin a specific type of animal.
Did dropping it and picking it back up fix the issue? Debating doing it myself
nope dropping it did not fix the issue at 91/100 atm and only gotten the knowledge i had before + the new items i found while continuing to level.
sorry for slow reply was out and about for lunch n whatnot and wanted to see if getting high skinning would do it but nope.

I haven’t seen any dropped knowledge points from things either just the stuff you get from mining new things which are one time only knowledge. I am guessing we won’t see any of the weekly knowledge items till during early access as I haven’t seen any of the mining erosion polished slate that are the 6 per week knowledge for mining either.
but i bet you got knowledge from mining once in a while (i am still at 15 from the 5 items i found total) my buddy who is a herbalist was at 40 or so for herbalism

Pretty sure it’s turned off for EA and once it launches for everyone you’ll get them
mining and herbing are getting KP but not skinning

Also not getting any Khaz Algar Skinning Knowledge! Seems like a bug to me when Mining and Herbalism both are for me.

Same problem on my skinner. My herbalists, tailor, and alchemist are all receiving knowledge points, which I have already applied to their spec trees. Skinner has not received a single point. Hoping for a fix soon…and a rewarding of back points, if possible!

once again, i am asking people if they are getting KP for herb/mining from first time gathers or if they are getting the random items that you then have to use from your inventory. if herb/mining are getting items and skinning is not, there is a bug. if the kp is only from first time gathers, there is no bug

First-time gathering does give KP for mining/herbalism, but not skinning.

Doubtful.
I think it is disabled for EA because it could possibly provide too much of a lead, given that they were weekly limited drops.
I’m sure it’ll be reenabled on monday/tuesday with expansion launch. Herbalism and Mining do not give the KP items that u have to harvest and then click. They have just been getting the KP from first time nodes which skinning does not get.
I’ve worked on my miner/skinner and my herbalist:
One-time KP from new nodes: Yes on mining and herbalism, no on skinning.
Bonus random KP ‘study’ drops: No for all three.
I would have to go back and double check, but I am 99% certain that I am still at only 16 kp total on my skinner, and that was all gained through the world object loot.
