Skills removed from alpha (rogue)

I am an assa rogue player. I’m a PVP player, especially Arena, and I like to build and test my own skill trees, and I’ve been using sepsis a lot, but I see that it’s going to be removed.

I realize that sepsis is not well adopted by PVE or most Arena players. But wasn’t the point of having a segmented talent tree in Dragonflight, to give people more options and give players the fun of optimizing their own? I think this segmented tree is a great thing for WoW. Sepsis was not a balance-breaking, concept-destroying skill, and with the removal of sepsis, there is no replacement.

Unless the skill is causing a major problem, it should be reinstated or have an alternative.

If nearly nobody is taking a talent after multiple iterations of said talent, it’s much better to remove that talent outright and replace it with a talent that people would be able to justify considering.

It Sepsis is removed, it gives Blizzard an opportunity to design a better, more intuitive, easier-to-take talent that more people will actually get mileage out of. That’s also a big reason why Serrated Bone Spike got a huge overhaul for Assassination; because the original version of that talent was rarely, if ever, played and this new version’s a LOT easier to justify running.

In Sepsis’s case, the “major problem” the skill was causing was that pretty much nobody was ever running it. There was just never a realistic use case for running it because it’s always just that crappy choice node alternative to either amazing talents like Underhanded Upper Hand or Inevitability or another equally unviable talent that’s miserable to path through like Bone Spike.

By your own admission, it’s not used by PvE players and most PvPers also aren’t running it; at that point, why even bother keeping that specific talent around? It is objectively a failed talent, and that’s made even more hilarious by the fact that it was also a tremendous flop of a Covenant ability; it only ever saw incredibly limited use from Outlaw on Council of Blood and Stone Legion Generals back in 9.0 and absolutely nobody ever ran it thereafter. Plenty of Kyrian/Venthyr/Necrolord Rogues of all shapes and sizes in SoD and Sepulcher, and plenty of Venthyr Subtlety in S2 M+, but certainly nobody playing Night Fae despite how bonkers Korayn’s Soulbind should be in theory.

The ability flopped as a Covenant ability (hell, it was even WORSE by the time Covenants were freely swappable which is saying something), and it flopped as a talent. At that point it really did need to be nuked from orbit.

The point isn’t to give you lots of options as much as it is to give you options in how they want you to play the game. The fun thing about that is at least when they remove things they might make the class more interesting in new ways, thus new builds.

Rogues are losing a lot of tools like MFD, Sepsis, Acrobatic Strikes, Dread blades, dark times ahead.
