Skill Points Reset randomly in WoW Cata Classic

I spent hours farming materials in Cata Classic to level my Blacksmithing from 397 towards 450 following this guide: wow-professions dot com/cataclysm/blacksmithing-leveling-guide-cataclysm-classic. I got my skill points to 421 (though I deviated a bit since I had mats for belt buckles which require less Saronite), but the game randomly disconnected me (has been happening randomly since the DS patch) while crafting.

When I logged back in, my character had teleported to a previous location (I DC at anvil, TP’d to mailbox) where I had gone to get Cobalt Bars from an alt. I also found that my skill points dropped from 421 to 404. I still had most the items I crafted to get to 421 such as 10 Deadly Saronite Dirks that clearly state crafted by me (I recovered as much as possible from the vendor). They are only craftable at 405+. I also have 6 Eternal Belt Buckles which aren’t craftable until 415, so I have clear evidence I was higher than 404.

I opened an in-game ticket and the first response was dismissive and sent me to a link on troubleshooting crashes and told me to go ask the forums… I replied that it was clear they didn’t even read my ticket. The second responder appears to have red it, but only did a surface level investigation into the issue. The response I got was:

" After taking a careful look at your case, I found out that Blacksmithing skill points were reset back to 404 but, the Saronite are still in your inventory and Cobalt Ore shows as deleted. With this in mind, I kindly ask you to please follow the steps mentioned on the link below, where you can find Troubleshooting steps that may help solving any disconnection issues.

I had farmed over 200 Saronite Bars (to follow the guide) and another 50 Cobalt bars. I only have 103 Saronite left in my inventory (after crafting the Dirks and Buckles) but this GM says I still have my bars. INSANE. I know they can see the history of items in my inventory. How someone can gaslight me and say that I still have my bars is beyond infuriating. I am submitting this as a bug report since it’s technically a bug that happened, but also to highlight that the GMs have really gone downhill and don’t even bother to properly investigate to see what happened. I am not going to farm another 100 saronite and eternal earth/water/shadow. This is a matter of principle. I’d like either my mats or my points restored. A stable server that doesn’t disconnect me and reset my points would be cool too.

Sincerely,
A Really Annoyed Player
p.s. I had to delete the links since I got an error saying I can’t include links…

Edit - This is the reply I got as a follow up in game:
Thank you for reaching out and for your detailed explanation. I completely understand your frustration, spending hours farming materials, only to find them missing, can be incredibly disheartening. I truly appreciate the effort and dedication you’ve put into gathering those resources.

While I can see how important these materials are to you, we are unable to restore or replace crafted items or their components.
I understand that this isn’t the answer you were hoping for, and I genuinely wish I could do more to resolve this for you.

We understand that submitting a bug report can feel like passing the responsibility back to you, which is not our intention. However, reporting the issue through the official channels allows our development team to gather detailed data and resolve the issue more effectively. Every piece of information helps our Development Team to pinpoint the root cause and deploy a solution faster.

Your time and investment in the game mean a lot to us, and we want to assure you that we are taking your feedback seriously.
We truly appreciate your patience and your commitment to the game despite these.

Thank you for your understanding and for being part of our community, I’m here if you need anything else!
Have a nice day,
