Hi guys. Noticed quite a problem with the two. I had both Skada and Details running and Skada said i did 11K on a fight but then details said i only did 5K? so which one is more accurate and which one should i actually be using? Thanks.
Details is more accurate and is your best option.
Details continues tracking damage until the fight ends. Skada, “depending on how you set it up,” will stop YOUR damage when you die. Dying is your fault, “unless i’ts a wipe,” always. It should effect how your dps is displayed.

Details, because it’s well really detailed. No seriously it’s got more going on behind the scenes than most. I love the graphs that allow me to gauge how well I did vs. other dps and at what point it dropped off.
I’ve been using Details! this entire expansion, but I might go back to Skada.
One big problem with Details! is it doesn’t show my total damage done since I reset the meter. I can’t see my total damage done during a raid like I could with Skada. Instead the most Details! seems to remember is the last 20 fights.
Also, I haven’t been able to figure out how to display a bar for the raid’s combined DPS during a fight. Skada could do that easily.
I like Details. It tracks a lot of info like who’s flasked and fed, pre-pull potion use, and more.
It just that the difference was pretty massive and it kinda shocked me to be honest.
Details calculates you dps using the entire fight time. Skada only uses the time you are actually dpsing to calculate it.
If you compare damage done with both tools you’ll find they report the same number
Details, the only caveat is that you need to remember to clear it once in a while. Otherwise its as accurate and in-depth as Warcraftlogs itself.
Skada and Details ARE EXACTLY THE SAME. Let me say it again for those who think there is a difference. Exactly, the same and calculate properly each time.
The difference between Details in Skada is WHEN DPS starts recording. So you need to decide what is important to you. Your DPS or everyone else. BOTH meters are the same.
Skada - Start’s DPS when YOU start your first hit.
Details - Start’s DPS when ANYONE hits
So if somebody shoots the mob and you don’t respond for a second or two, your meter and their meter are going to be different. I believe you can configure each of them to do it either way.
It’s the reason why you see 11k and somebody is 5k. They’re both right; but, if you’re not starting dps the moment the encounter starts, Details is going to reflect what logs show because that’s how logs calculate. Unless you’re on world of logs, which you can toggle between the both of them.
