Six weeks timegating on flying in the Siren Isle

There is more to the game than flying. The zone is designed around us being on the ground first and foremost. That allows them to make traversing the terrain part of the gameplay.

From what I’ve seen so far the terrain barely factors into the gameplay at all. There are no meaningful ways to use verticality to your advantage or anything else along those lines and being limited to ground mounts only serves to keep you from getting to the various events in time as they pop up. There are other games that do this sort of thing well but WoW has never been one of them and all this artificial limitation does it to annoy and stymie the player. It also makes no sense from an RP perspective either. If the storms on that island are so strong that they are able to keep a dragon from the skies then what hope does a horse have on the ground? Or do they not know how wind works?

6 weeks and you only can fly when it’s not “raining” (they are pretending the other mode of the isle is the ““hard mode””) :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

It’s whatever at this point

Funny thing about this game, some people find flying to be a prime factor in their enjoyment. Some have M+ as their fun focus. Others seem to prefer gathering, crafting, and playing the AH. Just because flight is not in your top 5, doesn’t mean it isn’t in someone’s. Your mileage obviously varies, but some of us drive a hybrid.

The island is the size of a box. One flap and you’ll be on the other side lol

I suggest you login on PTR it’s actually kind of sad how small it is

I actually liked Mechagon.

sub counts aren’t going to move up or down really for a throwaway patch

I just won’t engage the content. I’m tired of flying being held hostage.

It’d be one thing if the island were of substantial size. You will literally be across the isle in a single whirling surge and starting to get hit with fatigue as you hit the border. I would argue that flying wouldn’t even be necessary in this zone at this point, especially when you will only be able to fly under certain conditions anyway after it is unlocked. After 6 weeks it’ll feel like it was all for basically nothing.

Who is “nobody”? Hope they keep ignoring the whiners and keep making the game great again

That’s cool. Doesn’t contradict what I wrote though. You can like a feature as much as you want. That doesn’t mean it fits in every part of the game.

Yeah, if it’s really a 6 week grind for flight, I just won’t bother going there. I can live without the gear.

If there happens to be nothing else new going on (like the anniversary event), I’ll unsub until a new patch with flight hits. I have no idea when it is expected to go live though.

Yep. Flying is an important feature to me personally. It’s even one of the main reasons I started playing WoW at all. Still, I can recognize that it doesn’t need to be in every aspect of the game. In fact, I think it’s healthier that way.

Well, let’s see, it covers about 90% of the open world, and almost 15% of the instanced world. Mythic + is a TINY portion of the game. 8 whole dungeons. But remove that and watch people raze it to the ground. How much space it occupies in the game has NO BEARING on how many people enjoy it. Look at M+.

Don’t presume to speak for everyone I liked both of those zones flying or not.

Which is why we have Timeless Isle, the Maw, and most instances.
