Siren Isle Time Gating

Just how empty and bland will this content patch be if you’re time gating the rings full power behind 6 weeks?

Frequent patches are nice, but you know whats better? Substance. Take longer and push something that has some substance, not just another MoP type Isle but worse.

I love these time gating complaints. Especially when I see them next to not enough content complaints.

So I’m confused. Is the quest just time gated, or does it take 6 weeks of weeklys?

Because if it’s the quests, I’ll just do what I did with Earthen and wait until it’s not to play. That way, there’s no stop gap.

If it’s 6 weeks of quests, I’ll just unsubscribe. Theres better games out there.

You know there is nothing about these two complaints that can’t coexist right?

Drip feeding content with a timegate doesn’t mean there is a lot of content. It just means you can only progress through the meager content slowly.

If you unsubscribe can I have your teeth? I have dredger friends in Revendreth who are always asking.

So they should release everything on week 1 for content that they intend to last a couple of months?

Don’t think I said that. I just said that complaints about time gating a meager amount of content make perfect sense.

Turning up the content meter and turning down the timegate meter would be fun, right?

I’m not quiting. It’s just easy to ignore things when everything is seasonal. It’s ironic they made the game a seasonal experience instead of an expansional one. Thinking that the fomo alone is enough. So if season 1 sucks wait for season two, etc. I did all, but the annoying delve stuff. Everything else is fomo items. Who cares?

I find the threats of quitting or raging about timegates weird. We’ve had things like Molten Front that took a month of dailies just to unlock. Surumar was a weekly roll out. Argent Crusade took a month to fully unlock, then a lot longer to grind all of its content. Timegates in WoW aren’t new. Didn’t AQ have one too?

Well I agree but that’s not me making that threat.

I’m, once again, only saying that less time gating and more content = good.

And that more time gating and less content = less good.

Seems most players could agree on that.

I don’t know how much content the patch has, so whether the timegating is good or bad or being used to hide a lack of content is not something I can speak on.

I would think since the rings are tied to player power the timegating is to assure folks don’t blow through the raid, but I don’t know enough about the release yet.

You have literally said here that if they do this you will unsub so which is it?

Are you going to or not going to?

Sorry you can’t find anything to enjoy, there’s still plenty of people enjoying Season 1 and looking forward to Season 2.

I love how in a game with multiple millions of people every complaint comes from the same person.

They’re kind of opposite of each other no?

Timegating content means you don’t have enough of it to let players play freely so you slow down and put a pre-planned cap on the access and speed at which players progress.

I will when I want to. Right now, my best friend is enjoying this game. I don’t like the systems and the way they do things, but I’m doing it for something to do with him and something to waste my own time when I got it to waste.

What do you want me to tell you? It’s an anti-social hyper competitive game that ironically is bad for collecting because of the abusive levels of rng.

Every guild I join doesn’t talk or wants something out of me I’m not here in the game for.

I’d rather play a Guild Wars 2 or a Final Fantasy 14, but sometimes that’s not how the ball rolls.

The problem is, it takes a 4th of the time at best to run through and exhaust the content currently put out as they take to actually develop and release it.

This is why other MMORPGS have things like FF’s Golden Saucer and other RP stuff, so folks can make their own content and fun. Sadly this is something Actiblizzard doesn’t seem to understand.

Time-gating is often used pretty poorly by blizz with an intention to create an unfun experience and have people quit, freeing up server space (but not unsubbing!)
Like bronze acquisition during Blizz’s proposed 1st week of the “celebration” even /eyeroll

In this case, the time-gating is to normalize power gains across the board, and since the ring/system will come out unfinished and crappy, it gives them breathing room to fix their level 1 intern mistakes before it becomes too big of an issue.
It’s just streamlining gear, player power, which is something that is basically thrown at us in WoW. So I honestly don’t get your complaint. Who cares.

I mean, they’re still drip-feeding lore into the game from expansion launch. I think the final 100 Tokens for Titan Storytime with Dagran launched this week.

That’s a slow burn right there.

goblins are a horrible culture. if the tier sets are not good i may pass the season up LOL

We need to do quests for the ring and most likely a quest for each of the gems we want to use.

In Order for the ring to become 639 which is the selling point of it, its only 1 upgrade lvl PER WEEK, so we need 6 weeks to max it out.
