Has anyone noticed their pets being extra squishy or is there some specific mechanics I am missing?
Mobs there are tuned around higher player ilvl than the rest of open world, and they do a lot more damage.
1-2 shotting pets? I get higher ilvl but when I pull a mob of (let’s say) 3-4, my pet shouldn’t die from 2 hits.
Haven’t had them being 1-2 shot, def had to keep mend when pullin multiple packs, but the only thing i noticed was weird pathing / despawning in the “crypt” area
Check your rotation. My hunter is item lv 610 and I go through it with ease…
I do use potions, and enhancements. With your gear you should be cruising
621 I lvl bm hunter and my pets melt in the storm. Luckily I mostly play tanks, and there isn’t anything worthwhile on the isle anyway.
I’m doing the new zone differently than it is likely intended for alt catch up, and opted to do it on a fully pvp geared and somewhat gear upgraded character. Rarely do my pets die, but that should be expected in open world content with high item level gear.

Not really; although, there was a specific elite mob during the storm wq that killed my pet in a couple swings.
Individually, elite or normal enemy don’t hurt my pet. When in groups of 3+, I find that my pet will die in 2-3 hits as their health would disappear very quickly. Yes, Mend Pet exists, bomb/gun ability exists, I get that. I am just saying that’s what I have noticed.
Use a clefthoof, what are you using? Please don’t say it’s your spirit beast
I use my pup but it shouldn’t matter should it? Ya clefthoof has the def ability but that’s good for what? 2min? I would have the same problem for the next immediate pull.
I’m not saying it’s a problem. I’m just pointing something I’ve noticed. I don’t die from rezzing my pet and I do use my cds, just something that mildly irritating haha.
Re-did island tonight to farm for new gems, the only thing that was chunking my pet were the big hp bosses triggered in the event, and even there they were livin for a while w/o mend pet.
So I actually read the ability used on my pet finally lol
If anyone is interested, those big lobster looking elites will do Stormtouched Claw and that thing hits for half of my pet’s health and Mend Pet won’t be enough to save the pet from taking two hits from it.
That’s what it typically happens. Everything fine, but then a mob has some charge up ability that meant to be avoided by players. Pets don’t doge so they get the full hit.
I don’t know if melee classes can dodge that as I don’t see any in-game indicators for the attack but I could be wrong and need correcting.
Also about the point that pets can’t dodge, I swear I’ve seen mine dodge certain attacks or at the very least, move away from…?
check your talents to make sure you are using the abilities that heal your pet for more, give misdirect the damage reduction, turn off auto growl, and use heals often.
The higher damage abilities usually have a wind up that way you can move out of the area before it’s cast. If they don’t have a tell then I wonder if it’s scaled higher than it should be?
Another player getting hit with an ability that high in damage would take them out fast.
Lol turning off growl kinda defeats the purpose of a pet but like I said before, it’s not a problem, especially at my ilvl. It’s alway little things like that catches my attention.
Kinda like my class design really, I don’t mind a challenge, just don’t be a surprise that I don’t see coming and remedy.
You can still use it, but leaving it on auto tends to get even a clefthoof killed if you aren’t careful. I use it when or if it looses aggro.
