Well it gave me that vibe anyway. Just a sweet old person trying to be polite. That and we don’t look like male or female tortollons so they probably have no idea what makes other humanoids male or female since we don’t have turtle shells or bellies

Next time you are asked to kill the birds and the crabs to get the turtles to the water, you “lag” out.
Tortollans don’t see gender. That’s why their males and females look exactly the same.
Can you tell the female and male Tortollans apart. If you can’t tell them apart why do you think they should be able to tell elf male and females apart.
