Single Target Raiding Spec

So… I did a heroic BOD/Crucible on my frost mage the other day and my single target was just laughably bad. Was trying the packed ice/TV build as it fit my gear better at the time. It was to the point where I think I can do almost double the damage on certain fights on my monk (and some of my like 390ish alts could do better).

Given the azerite I got this week was going to try the more traditional GS build, but in people’s opinion would it be just better to go arcane or fire (have descent azerite traits for each). I am not a huge fan of the GS build due to the insane cast times but I am to the point where it is bothering me and I want to keep practicing to improve.

Don’t go arcane. I got benched from my raiding guild last night for being arcane. They were willing to take my frost mage but her ilvl was too low. I guess the cleave onto the ads from boss on Uunat and arcane being pure ST is what got me benched? All i got was “we need a frost mage for this fight.”

I’m no longer in this guild lol.

Not sure if there’s a strat/video out there that says frost is better than arcane but maybe talk to your RL or GM before you switch.

@Thaedred Fire mage if anything is the best one for Uu’nat. Imo anyway. That’s insane that a heroic guild would sit someone, but I looked at your parses, if you have the time, and you actually want to do more and get more stuff done, you should move onto a better guild than that.

I’ve moved on from it.

I went back to arcane with their ok (I was frost but was always arcane until this expansion). Just missed it thematically and wanted to go back. I know I need to look up the proper timing of using Presence of Mind and Charged Up but I was also middle of the pack for damage in the group (competing against some FotM classes).

Anyway, I took it as a sign and I’m going back to Horde. I may even go back to frost when I do. I tried out the Ice Lance build and I kind of liked it. Faction changing to Horde and switching servers too.

Fresh start and all that

I was wondering why any guild would bench you for heroic then realized it was an Alliance one which explaines everything  Unfortunately arcane just isn’t super for most of this tier; here’s hoping that there will be some fights in AEP where it can shine. Either way, mages need love.

I feel that we are unfairly characterized here. We sat Thaedrid for 1 fight because we were bringing in a smaller group for Unnat. While DPS had been an issue, not just in CoS but also in BoD, it was the fact that Thaedrid can’t do mechanics that ultimately sat him. For example, H Mek. You get into a robot, you get called out you call other people out. He apparently didn’t think that applied to him and just left as soon as his colors were done. As it turns out, supposedly, he didn’t have a mic. Or it was broken, or whatever. Which he neglected to us ahead of time when we asked if everybody had a mic and was comfortable calling colors. Or getting ice blocked cuz can’t dodge balls on Jaina. Or not getting out of Storm Swell on Blockades. I mean, I can go on but whatever.

Parses confirm what Tabolicious is saying. He is not a very good player. Thoughts Thaedred?

How do you look at someone’s parses?

Logs are a tool for tracking improvement, everyone starts somewhere, and personal progress never ends. Respect the climb.

Very interesting, yeah I didn’t look into the details too much, but that does make sense. I personally would suggest trying to help him out more if you haven’t, if you have well then I don’t know what to say LOL.

Respect the climb from someone who came in here running their mouth about their guild instead of looking inward and improving. No, not today, not ever.

Sure, but call him out for complaining instead of the go-to sarcastic parse comments. Say what you mean instead of going for low-hanging fruit. In the context of his guild, he’s performing about average and you won’t be changing any of his anecdotal relative comparisons between himself and his ex-guildmates.

This is why I stopped raiding hardcore (full mythic clear guild) because I got tired of having to play a spec I didn’t want to as I love arcane. But if you got benched for arcane then I would find a new guild unless you mean Mythic. Although Arcane is bad (the worst), I wasn’t preventing the guild from clearing it.

To each their own. If you feel like coddling him go for it. I was simply confirming what his guild mate said about him. The kid quit a guild instead of improving. As a member of a guild that loses whiners all the time I guess I don’t have any sympathy left to dole out.

You completely missed the point.

WHAT DID YOU ALL DO TO MY THREAD; TAKE IT ELSEWHERE. lmao
