PLEASE provide a single-pet alternative talent to Animal Companion in the Beast Mastery tree. I detest being forced into two pets. It’s visual clutter and it breaks my fantasy of having a bond with one pet, my ride-or-die homie. I hated Hati being forced on me in Legion and I actively avoided Animal Companion after that. I don’t mind summoning Dire Beasts because at least they go away after a while. I don’t want AC to be removed, I just want an alternative talent that buffs the damage of my one pet. I don’t even care if it’s tuned slightly lower than AC, please just provide the option.
You would rather have both pets. Beasts, black arrow, etc. get double the tooltip proc chance because you’re technically casting kill command twice every time you press the button. You’d be severely nerfing yourself, or you’d have to rework a bunch of other stuff in the tree just to fulfill this whim and make it an actual option. If the visual and RP aspects are that much more important to you, you really ought to consider just playing SV or mm. Pack leader SV is all about the bond with hunter and one pet.
I don’t see why he couldn’t get a choice node for Animal Companion which behaves exactly the same, but both AC damage sources come from your single pet. Mechanically you could have an identical set of damage events/outputs, you just wouldn’t see the second pet.
Exactly. Not much would need to change. The option would be great.
I get the point. There is just very little benefit in putting development time into something like that. Mechanically, it’s not as simple as having the option for a buffed pet vs two pets. You would then have to go in and modify every talent on the tree that hinges on the number of pets you have out, the number of kill commands cast, the difference in one pet casting KC twice vs two pets casting KC (matters for pack leader), etc. There’s a lot of things that could theoretically be done that aren’t really worth the work. This one is one of them.
Not worth the work to you, maybe. But I’m not the only one who’s spoken against this. It was a mistake to force 2 pets on us to begin with.
