Why is everyone so excited about SMF? I never played it myself when it was a thing.
I don’t understand why people give a damn about SMF. Fury is already fast as hell and the double 2h is such an awesome, unique thing. Considering at least 5 other classes have a spammy dual-wield 1h spec, I have no idea where the enthusiasm to add smf back to warrior comes from. I wish it was just a cosmetic change because, inevitably, a time will come where smf is the optimal choice for dps which is going to be a headache. I’m interested to hear from someone who is excited about it though.
From the outside, some people really really care about aesthetic and class fantasy. Also it seems like sometimes people get fixated on certain causes and act as if it would be a cure for all their gripes with the game. You should see what a bugaboo the whole “green fire” thing has been for Warlocks, both before it was added and since.
It would have made sense and would be easier to balance to just unlock 1h as a transmog option
Oh yeah just a simple tmog option would be optimal, now they gotta balance that and because of that we are exposed to sudden number tunning that might make a weapon set obsolete for competitive play, plus we don’t have a reliable way to guarantee 1 hander drops, I hope they simply change the smf tooltip to being a transmog thing only
plus we don’t have a reliable way to guarantee 1 hander drops
I keep seeing this line of thinking, and I don’t really get it. You can set your spec to prot for bosses you want a strength one hander from, and you can set your spec to arms for bosses you want a strength two hander from. Yes, it’s a little cumbersome to have to do that, but warrior definitely can force the drops
Didn’t they already say 1 handers are going to be on Fury personal loot drops?
Didn’t they already say 1 handers are going to be on Fury personal loot drops?
Yeah, but the debate has been that you can’t pick between 1h and 2h by setting your loot spec to fury, from my understanding.
Fair enough but no one is complaining about that with monks so what makes it different for warriors?
I don’t get it either really. I think it will be clunky to maintain more than one set of weapons, and I take pride in the fact that I’m the only spec in the entire game that can dual wield massive weapons that everyone else needs two hands for.
SMF and TG will never be balanced, one will always be optimal. I fear that SMF will be optimal for a tier, and then I lose my class fantasy I love so dearly of dual wielding two handlers. SMF and TG shouldn’t even change the feel of the spec that much, it’s mostly a cosmetic and RPG thing. So, in my opinion, they should just make it a transmog thing. Just let the warriors that really want to use one handers mog to one handers. That would be an optimal solution that would make everyone happy, IMO.
Issue with that is that I can now get a shield instead out of my chest and not to say tank trinkets when I want dps trinkets as a dps.
I hope we get 1h arms
Back in MoP and WoD smf and TG were actually very close in damage that you would just go with what was the higher Ilvl in your bags.
And the loot table wouldn’t be that hard .
Fury loot table is 1 handers and Arms is 2 handers .
And the new weekly chess system will be way better with multiple items you can pick the one that’s the best upgrade for you . So no longer getting just boots and belts every week
That is not at all true.
I actually dont get it why ppl wanted SMF instead of just a mog option. It doesn’t change gameplay at all, just bring balance issues and loot problems.
I don’t know about other people, but for me it isn’t about the speed of it, it is about the look. I like the look of using two one handed swords.
It’s a class fantasy thing for me. I shouldn’t have to care which type of weapon I use as a berserker (fury) that’s also a weapon master (warrior). It’s very important to me to have the choice between SMF and TG as fury. Transmog only is not acceptable. I am very happy that SMF fury is returning.
I remember that. I went with whatever weapons dropped for me. It’s definitely possible to balance SMF/TG.
Literally all people want boils down to choosing how your weapons looks in a way and the transmog options fills that need without impacting high end play
Why is it not enough, functionally TG and SMF works the same, your rotation does not change, all it does is add complications to gearing and a balancing issue that will need to be closely looked at to ensure one is not too much better then the other, and regardless in high end play what ever performs better will be used so once again whatever is weaker will be tossed to the sidelines.
All an all the way they currently plan on implementing it will just cause headaches and frustrations from players trying to gear as having 2 weapon types that cannot be mixed up together causes drops to be even less reliable and thus causing Fury to be less easy to gear making it less reliable for early mythic prog.
I dont get the complaints for this, I already said that in another thread. My issues included the look to be sure. In legion the fury two handers were nearly twice the size of my human. I mean come on? There is a point where it becomes just stupid. The other point is it opens up a bunch of one handed weapons. This will be nice. In blacksmithing. You ever notice after they killed the one handed fury spec, that two handed weapons were always the most difficult to get to because they were at the end part. While one handed weapons were normally at the beginning. Should make things a tad easier in that regard.
Though I think the transmog might have made things easier, the result would have been removing all transmog restrictions. Once they did this for us, the other classes would have cried havoc until they got it. We get back to there is a point were it becomes stupid. Along the lines of undead paladins that would torch themselves, and got to love the holy cows talk about real bs. Not to mention pandas joining the horde. I think wow has had enough mockery from things like this.
In my mind blizzard has chosen to go this route. Awesome fast swinging blades make a return with weapon choice. All good to me.
