With all the mount farming the past month I started using the Single-Button Assistant for alt classes I don’t usually play much. My question is: Does merely having the Single-Button Assistant on your action bar impose the GCD penalty?
That is a fantastic question that I don’t have an answer to!

I did some searching and the internets are telling me the following:
The Single-Button Assistant does impose a global cooldown penalty, even when the button is on your bars but not actively being used. This means that while the button is present on your action bar, it still affects the GCD, adding a delay between using other abilities.

When the Single Button came out there was also another feature called “Assisted Highlight”. It is the next level of difficulty above “Single button” but it’s really easy to use. What it does is it highlights the button you should use next.
One advantage of Assisted Highlight is that you will learn some of the basics of your alt just by using it. Also, you don’t get the global cool down you get with single button.
