Playing demo warlock and wanting to play with a voidwalker but single button assist keeps wanting me to play with a felguard. Should there be a way for it to know i already have a pet out?
Demonology is built around having the felguard. There is never a reason not to have it.
Why do you want a Voidwalker? Demonology has the Felgauard as its exclusive pet that is better than a Voidwalker in every way, minus you having an extra defensive buff. Do you feel like you need the extra defensive or something?
Yes, i was farming a delv and was needing it
That’s not really a bug, then, this is more of a want. Not trying to read as harsh. One Button Rotation will try to give you the demon attached to demo as its first priority, I believe.
This is correct. OBR was not designed around critical situational awareness and only as the fundamentals for learning the class abilities rotation for the character you are using.
The Voidwalker may have just under 20k more health than the Felguard, but the Felguard seems to mitigate the damage better than the Voidwalker in my opinion while also requiring less healing and doing more damage, even during mob farm scenarios.
If you’re still unsure, you can also buff your Felguard a bit more by stepping off the meta build and adding Fel Armaments from the Demonology tree (5 down on the right side), which gives your FG 10% damage reduction, though it’s not necessary.
Also, over on the Warlock tree (3rd tier, third down) is Infernal Beneficiary which empowers your Life Drain spell to also heal your primary demon by 400%. You can bring your demon from 20% to 100% in a few quick applications while barely using much mana at all.
As much as I hate to see class spec homogenization,
This is 100% accurate with Demonology.
I believe their issue was needing the defensive for themself in a Delve, though there was not much further elaboration on that. Not if the tank demons are dying too fast (over-pulling would be my guess, not dragging 1-2 mobs away from roamers, ect) or that they are sharing the aggro and as a clothie are getting whomped.
That does not mean that the rotation assistance or OBR are bugged. Demonology is built around using the felguard. So it’s gonna try to force you to use it.
I admit, I don’t pretend to predict the thought process of others and only respond to what is said directly to try and help from there. However, a Voidwalker’s Shadow Bulwark is not going to help in that situation, especially with a 2-minute cooldown.
One Button Assistant will also not do any of the following (source = WoWhead)
- Move your character or use any mobility-based buttons like Blink, Sprint, or Heroic Leap.
- Change target for you if your current target dies or if you want to debuff multiple enemies (spread DoTs).
- Use major offensive cooldowns like Avenging Wrath or Ascendance.
- Interrupt enemies or use utility/crowd-control effects.
- Use any trinkets, potions, or other similar items in your inventory.
While mostly accurate, I think most of the responses are missing the point a little bit.
I believe the real question here is why is it handling pet summoning at all? There are no abilities that require you to have the Felguard out as far as I recall. As an assistance tool, I’m sure the point is trying to help you remember to have a pet out, but this doesn’t seem to be the best way of doing that.
That said, I would not expect this to ever be fixed, sadly.
Perhaps because pets deal damage and as far as the programming goes, it would be considered a damage dealing ability.
That would be covered by Assisted Highlight which is only meant to suggest which abilities to use and not do it for you at the press of a button.
If OP would rather use Voidwalker instead of Felguard while also using Single Button Assist, then I suggest removing the Felguard talent in the Demonology tree. By doing this, Single Button Assistant won’t try and use it because it would no longer be an option.
It’s just like rogue where it makes you use the poisons it wants you to use but why is it even included in single button anyway.
