Since you won’t fix it, just remove AV altogether

There is no doubt that anyone with half a brain can tell you that AV is not in the spirit of Vanilla. The entire sense of community, the need to coordinate, etc. is non existent and the game turns into an honor simulator. It makes PVP feel the same way dungeons feel in the abomination of a mobile game that is retail.

I know the devs aren’t going to take time to make changes to it, so the right thing to do is just remove it. People with 1 million honor in a week running this mindless dog poo is a joke.

On another note , I don’t care how long you artificially extend maintenance for a game that you’re not even updating, I’m not installing retail to partake in your $25 mounts and toys.

Players ruin BG just like they did over a decade ago. Details at 11.

One day people will realize the community ruined this game a long time ago. No matter what Blizz does players will find a way to mess up other people’s fun.

Why make an alt to post this?

You think grinding 14 in 2005/2006 was any different? I made it to 13 and 99% of the time the other team just left WSG or AB and let us finish the game without any resistance.

Says the dude thats lvl 12. I worked my butt off to get exalted for the rewards and yes it was fun. The rewards are actually a big part of av and its why people take it so serious. I came to the game late and its hard finding a guild to gear my warrior so I am using pvp to catch up. Honestly the pvp gear is better than anything out in the game anyway for my warrior.

Yes it was in vanilla, and it was so bad that they removed the honor system completely a few weeks later because of AV honor farming and how big of a joke it is.

And people complaining that “the players ruined it, not the devs” are just being dense. If a game can be reduced to one single mindless method as the 1000% best way to obtain something, and that single method is not fun and even the people doing it don’t feel great about it, then you’ve failed as a dev.

On top of that, anyone with any sense has been screaming for months to not release this version of AV because this exact thing would happen.

Except the community did ruin it. By being cry babies when they didn’t get their easy win and would drop BG to preserve their honor per hour. So the entirety of the community suffered due to a small subset no life grinding honor. Deserter debuff should be an hour and not countdown unless your toon is online.

I have fun in AV. Half my games are defensive games that involve lots of PvP. Speak for yourself.

it’s both - people take path of least resistance always. dev’s enabled it - sure. it doesn’t mean you can’t make you’re own fun.

There are forums gripes against this AV, yet there are forum gripes about forced turtles.

It’s all about the player’s agenda.

At least it was WSG or AB

Yes cause running flags back and forth with no opponents in the game and having 20 minute Q’s between games while sitting afk was WAY more fun

People will always act in a way that gets them what they want with the least amount of time and effort required. It doesn’t matter what system or mechanics you put in place, people will simply adapt and find a new way to mindlessly farm for what they want. Since classic is just a museum piece that isn’t going to have any significant changes, that means the meta we had in 1.12 is going to be the meta for as long as people play this game. That’s just how it is.

I got 12 solo in AB, I just killed players and lead with macros, actual pvp happens in WSG and AB at least, Spamming AV was never actually a thing, why is it now. I just want to pvp and not be punished for it, feel me?

this is a hard pill to swallow for some

I agree. Alterac Valley has changed the game. World pvp is completely different. I remember before Alterac Valley, it was a murder death run into Blackrock Mountain. 10 deaths minimum, and thats as a Paladin. Now, I can freely walk into Blackrock mountain without a single player of the opposite faction even turning to look at me, even when there are 2 or more of them outnumbering me. Simply because its not worth their time. If they wanted to farm honor they could just go slam a red bull and go back to back Alterac Valley for hours and get themselves miles ahead of anyone who doesnt do that.

It was not a tiny subset. Prior to the 1.10 changes, Dark Iron Horde side (relatively balanced realm, High/Med population at peak times) was lucky to see two concurrent AV’s going at peak times, even on weekends. It was always only ever one game going. When the significant changes went in with 1.10 and 1.11, we had three games going at all times, sometimes a fourth or fifth on weekends. When cross-realm BGs went live in 1.12, you’d see seven or eight AVs going at once.

I enjoyed those long AV games pre-1.10 (when I could get in one), but I long ago accepted that I and others who felt that way were in the minority. The majority of people on our realm wanted quicker AV games and I have no issue believing that this was the case on many other realms.

I did mine in a PVP guild. Once the match started and other team saw our ranks, they would all just quit out or afk off to the side to let us win. Occasionally we would go against the ONE horde guild that could compete. We would play to 1 point and the other team would give them the matches for the remainder of the day.
