You are probably confusing those generations for Gen X, which is trending conservative.
Or maybe they’re actually accurate polls that understand both parties in the US are right-wing, but Zoomers and Millenials won’t be voting for the GQP in the majority any time soon due to the abortion issue.
Yeah, i hate living in such a right wing country like the US. I really think we should be more open and welcoming, like Sweden or Norway, but things take time, I guess.
“Should I change my behavior? No…it’s Blizzard who’s wrong.”
“Abloo bloo bloo, people don’t just sit back and take my verbal abuse without complaint anymore and now I might get in trouble for not understanding the guidelines for conduct that I agreed to repeatedly as a condition of my being in this space.”
Gen X trends apathetic, politically disconnected. We didn’t manage to have an effect on society when our Boomer parents had a stranglehold on the culture and were busy doing speedruns on pulling the ladders up behind them for fear of us taking their jobs because we understood technology better and most of us never engaged with a machine that never responded to us trying to pull the levers.
Once the last Boomers clinging desperately to power finally fade it’ll be interesting to see how Gen X does, but I imagine political divisions will continue to fall primarily on income class lines and region rather than any generation-wide trends.
Increasingly, not so much. Minority groups have tended to follow the voting trends of their individual socioeconomic class and region in the last decade or two rather than being a monolith, across all kinds of definitions of “minority”.
My raid team actively jokes and uses many terms one may deem offensive or childish, and no one gets reported because we are all on the same page. But I’m not going to going into a pug and type them in game to a bunch of strangers because I don’t know how they’ll react.
IME most gamers in an organized raid team are very relaxed and understand it’s impossible to police people on the internet so anything goes, but we are all smart enough to leave it on discord and gchat where the moderation is left to us to determine.
Examples, please? As someone said previously, Texas is turning blue, mostly along the border and near Austin. Many areas that are having high amounts of immigration are turning blue, baring a few exceptions like some african migrant communities. Otherwise, the communities that have historically voted Democrat haven’t lost their support for the cause, baring a blip a few years ago with a rather loud orange fellow.
You know what’s hilarious that this country has lost its ever loving mind? They want get rid of “Baby it’s Cold Outside”, a Christmas song that was around for decades. Meanwhile, around the same time, WAP was number one on the charts. Help make that make sense.
One is empowering, the other is about SA if you don’t understand the context of when it was written. Somewhat similar to taking down old monuments, really. It was meaningful to put them up during the time and after reconstruction, but now their historical context and meaning is lost, and they need to be taken down for us to heal.
Apart from what everyone has said about how the context and the way you use it is important…
I’d add that this is such a complex topic nowadays that it doesn’t matter how you use it, it might get you reported.
If you use it in a derogatory way, the pro lgbt crowd will get mad at you (for obvious reasons).
If you use it in a respectful way, the conservative crowd will get mad, because it’s offensive for them if you even recognize the existence of gay people as anything other than depravity and mental disorder.
No. People actually just want to be offended by everything nowadays. I’m not even talking about specific groups of people, I’m talking about every day Joes, people as a whole. I mean, I saw a woman get offended because a guy I knew was wearing a pink shirt… HE LIKES PINK! So what??
That being said, I assume op was using the term in an offensive way which is probably why they got flagged. Although the word can mean many things, just like a specific word meaning a donkey, it can also be used in an offensive way. Just be respectful of people and be careful about how you say something. I was one of those kids who used it to say stupid all the time, I no longer do because I realize as an adult it’s a tacky classless thing to do.
