Since people are talking about FFXIV

Why are people fascinated with talking about final fantasy here?

I’m not saying “they’re wrong for thinking it’s good”, I’m saying their taste is bad while providing objective arguments. You’re just deflecting my main points.

I can respect FFXIV in some aspects of the game, but FFXIV is just a weird game. I don’t like how sexualized the female characters are, I want to dress up as an actual warrior not some woman wearing high heels and a bra top. I know not all outfits are like that but whatever. (I know I’ll get backlash for this but whatever, and yes I am aware I am being hypocritical with my WOW character but I can explain, I can’t find any decent tops to wear that match my transmog.) I will admit, there is a lot of cool outfits though and cool things to express yourself with.

Not to mention, FFXIV’S entire game is just a visual novel outside of that big box of reading, you have sluggish combat and unappealing classes. The whole time I was doing the main story, I felt like I just took 20 things of Benadryl because I felt exhausted doing it all. It just felt like a long tiring chore. Not to mention, there’s not a lot to do in FFXIV, you can roleplay and bore yourself with mundane side quests but other than that there’s nothing on a competitive level.

Explain to me how these two things aren’t the same thing except worded differently. Objective arguments pls

If you’re bringing “objectivity” into a discussion about a video game on a video game forum, I think what’s more likely here than someone having “bad taste” is you wanting to project the idea that you’re intelligent about something you probably know little about.

Ff14 arr is a masterpiece compared to WoW story after wotlk.

I’m pointing out how it does not make any sense that the WoL (who did EVERYTHING for their friends in the first place) would leave everyone behind to die (we had no possible way to know they would not die at that point) because of less than 10 “no ones” guards pursuing him (as the game shows).
If someone says “I actually like it” without any effort to disproof my claims that it does not make any sense (therefore it is an incoherent story), by all means I have all the logical rights to imply bad taste.

Can you refute my argument or not?

That’s a very low bar

We’re dealing with “Somehow, Palpatine returned” levels of writing in WoW since Cata onward. The best expansion story since Cata was MoP and it never improved since-- especially since they axed the Thunder King in favor of Daddy Issues the Orc.

Great arguments, very impressive. You almost change my mind with your fascinating proofs and unrefutable reasoning. You’re very good in discussions, should make this your job. Very impressive.

There are two story lines in WoW that are interesting: The Undead and The Old Gods.

After Shadowlands, there is nothing interesting that can be done with The Undead. That chapter of WoW is closed and unfortunately it ended terribly. The fact that there are hints and whispers of some of The Old Gods being alive is the only reason I might come back to retail. The dragon stuff in this game has always been stale.

… You literally can dress up in armor. The armor that’s unisex is pretty much the same for both genders. If you want to wear high heels and the such then that’s on you. The games glamour system let’s you choose how you want to look very easily with adventure plates.

Which are basically free to switch to as after you set them you no longer need glamour prisms to switch between them.

oh /ten100

Again, the Warrior of Light is loathe to take life unless it’s absolutely necessary. It’s unclear exactly who are traitors are who are confused soldiers following orders from confused commanders. Also remember at this point that the WoL is under suspicion for assassinating a political leader, so getting arrested would be a Very Bad Thing.

Better than yours.

Sure because there was no way to knock out those guards without killing… I mean… LOOL

Again, you knock out those guards and get swarmed by a batallion more. The guards you see are just the ones that caught up to you. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of CB and IF guards on your tail at that point and if you get slowed down you WILL get nabbed.

Yes! 10000 times better… That moment when you quoted my main argument and totally refuted it with that amazing counterargument was the best thing that happened to me this year so far.

AMAZING argumentative skills. I’m speechless.

Glad you understand this.

For someone who actually travels time, to the moon, and to the boundaries of the universe, to help their friends, it sure looks like an impossible task to defend their friends while running in the sewer from some guards chasing him… Sure… Whatever works for you… LOL

Allow me to provide the evidence for him.
Ahem.
Vague gesturing to all of WoW

That about sums it up.
FFXIV treats its story as a part of the game, not an inconvenient conveyor belt to get the player to the next set-piece and loot pinata. I haven’t played all of ARR as it’s certainly rather dry (or perhaps a lot to take in?) in that JRPG sort of way, but it definitely felt like the writers gave a damn about the world they were creating and not just “rule of cool” defining everything.

“Uhh time travel orcs
Except uhhh Legion exists across all timelines
And uhhh some tauren blow up a demonic star destroyer with poop bombs
and actually the Jailer did everything because of 4D chess”

Are you talking about the end of the post-ARR narrative where the leaders were poisoned at the dinner?

Let me ask you a question: Do you think the WoL is an unstoppable force? Do you think the WoL is so godlike that they could just wipe out and fend off what was potentially an entire kingdom’s army?

Because if they were, what would be the point in having a team to begin with if they could just do everything on their own?

The WoL is the most important character in the game. It makes logical sense that they would leave their friends behind, especially when their friends are telling them to, when they’re one of the few people capable of progressing the Scion’s agenda after Minfilia’s disappearance.

You keep saying 10 guards but what I think you fail to understand is that the 10 guards were likely a limitation of the game’s engine being able to render more than 10 people in that moment. Keep in mind that FFXIV needed to be able to run on the PS3, and any more rendering likely would have made the game’s performance tank since it already ran like garbage.

There’s a thing called ludonarrative dissonance in video game writing. I suggest reading more into it if you’re not aware of what it is.

There. Refuted, now go ahead and tell me how wrong I am because you’re certainly not here to argue in bad faith.
