Since Humans and BE's got new "ethnic" skins and faces, perhaps some could be added for us "gingers"?

That’s right; I’m a dirty, filthy ginger. Definitely had my share of insecurities about it as a kid – after all, how many GUYS do you see in modern movies, shows, or even games that have red hair? – but ironically enough, it’s given me a pretty thick skin as an adult.

I honestly think it was cool seeing some genuinely NEW options added for representation for Humans and BE’s. But I’ll say, even the lightest skin-color for Humans or BE’s lack the sort of “rosey” complexion – or freckles – that us natural redheads usually come paired with.

Also, I’ll point out something that I always found quite ironic, which is that the OLD character models (which you can easily see in WoW Classic now) actually have a better, more realistic interpretation of “Red” hair color.

See, what we often call “Red” hair is not, in fact, truly red. Rather, it tends or range from auburn to more of an orange hue, with streaks of blonde. The old “Samsom” hairstyle for male Humans was a great showcase, because it had some amount of blonde, while still a very bright “orange” sort of hair-color.

Meanwhile, the “new” models, it’s a VERY dark sort of “red” color. While not quite “brown”, it certainly doesn’t have the brighter shade that natural red hair typically has.

Similarly, I feel like the dark blue eyes are a great option, but skew a bit too dark. As far as “light blue” eyes go, the in-game options feel more “grey” than “blue”. Again, not the end of the world, just something I noted.

Mostly, it’s just the hair and skin colors feel kind of lacking on the whole “ginger” front. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a face option with softer features, especially since the newer “ethnic” face options look PHENOMENAL, whereas the classic ones seem quite dated by comparison.

Just my two cents!

Can’t believe we’re still using the term “ethnic” to describe non-white things in the year two thousand and twenty two.

Gingers are technically the whitest of the whites.

What else would you call those options though? Genuinely asking; I couldn’t think of anything else that felt accurate, and not “racial” in some sense. I feel like any other descriptions risk upsetting or possible even offending someone else, which is obviously not my intent.

I just find it bizarre. Eveything is technically ethnic since everyone has an ethnicity.

What classification do you give to Albinos? Asking for an endangered rhino friend :joy:

You know what makes me laugh these days?? Wifey and I watch a bunch of the cooking shows, with Gordon, Bobby Flay, Top chef, etc etc…and almost all of the contestants always say “I want to represent because food is an important part of my heritage!” I always say out loud “well duh, literally every single culture, ever, has cuisine”

OMG, wtf did they do to the human hair colors?

Burgandy? Royal blue? A weird dusky rose? A washed out beige?

But no true black or dark brown or light brown or strawberry blond or even white?

Crikey, this was not rocket science. All they had to do was look around our HUMAN world!

My human hunter’s red color is a carrot/burnt orange shade which I am happy with.

But yeah they should have more shades of red/orange/ginger/whatever as well as other natural colors.

Human should at the least have:
Black (true black, not that ugly grey-brown)
Dark brown
Brown (no. 2)
Light brown
Auburn (shade between brown and carrot)
Carrot/Burnt Orange (no. 4)
Strawberry Blond (shade between carrot and golden)
Golden (no. 7)
Golden blond (no. 8)
Blond (no. 9)
Pale Blond/Fair (used to be in game, replaced wt platinum for dwarfs, yes, still bitter)
White
Light Grey (no. 11)
Medium Grey (no 10)

And they need a rich brown eye color as well. And a more natural shade of green would be nice too.

I can’t believe they screwed up something so basic, so simple! It was such an easy win both creatively and to attract people who want to play themselves in game.

God, I hate stupidity!

Okay, rant over, you can return to your regularly scheduled program.

Oh wow would you look at that, I’ve lost the capacity to care. Oh well.

I definitely love more cosmetic options, and yeah, I’d LOVE to see more hair colors added into the mix. Like I said, that natural-looking “ginger” hair – more orange with blonde streaks or highlights – would just be a nice option to have in there.

And also, I notice the texture-work on the NEW Face options is just head-and-shoulders better than the “old” Face options. All of the new faces look clean and smooth, whereas the old ones look what I would call “over-textured”.

Plus, like I said even if it’s not typically as “masculine”, it would be cool having more of a rosy complexion to choose from.

I think Gingers are supposed to be Gnomes. They have an adorable freckle face. Well, the girls that is.

I agree, everyone needs cute freckle options!

If they added in Light Skin Tunes and another shade of Red and Orange Hair Colors for Humans, and Blood/Void Elves. I would be happy to see more variety. Right now the Variety to even be a Ginger or just a Redhead is lacking atleast in terms of Humans that is.

More freckles!

This thread made me laugh, I’m a redhead from Scotland and trying to adjust to this Australian heat is a toughie!

I think all races need more hair colors, but i would definitely agree the Human hair colors, especially after the model updates in WoD have felt a bit off. Another shade of Black would be nice, as well as some actual shades of Brown. Some more blonde colors would be nice too. Especially a Dark/Dirty Blonde option.

Another thing that annoys me is how some of the colors change between the older hair textures and the newer Shadowlands hairs. Like for the Male “Wizard” hair, red is different between the old and new options. I wish that Orange Red was available on the old hairs, and the old hair red (and other colors) were available on those new hair styles.

That caught me off guard too.

Did you hear the one about the Ginger Pride Rally they had?

Not a soul was seen.

Didn’t you hear? White people don’t have color, ethnicity, or individual identities. We’re all just privileged strawmen.

I also noticed that, the new hairstyles have different SHADES of color as well.

Also, I suppose this is as good a time as any to bring up, it seriously annoys me that the Pandaren lack a TRUE Black-and-white color fur, instead it’s all “really dark brown” as well. In fact, I wouldn’t mind just seeing the Pandaren get some love as well, since their hair and facial-hair options are a little lacking, imo.

But back on point, yeah a smattering of freckles (nothing crazy or over-the-top) might not be bad either. But then, I don’t need ULTRA level of detail, where I can see actual imperfections in my character’s appearance or anything. But a rosier skin-tone and more “ginger” hair style – and face option with more “Irish”, sharp or soft features – would be a nice addition.

I’m just curious if you think about this often in real life?

Like do you think about hair color pixels daily or how does that work? It just seems really important to you. So I’m curious.

I feel like gingers have the entire dwarf race at their beck and call.

But yes, more natural hair colors are nice.
