Since Consoles support Keyboard & Mouse

sony limits it with their crap. No scripting (even internal to the game) and no external assets. So there goes tons of mods where everything from model to texture is external. Can’t even put the most basic blender (free CAD option for poorer folks like me lol) files on these things.

xbox makes out much better here. Its main limit imo is the crap 2 gb, 150 .esp limit. for fallout. Skyrim se got a nice fat 5 gb partition for this. Not sure why fallout got screwed. Some MA’s are real nice and find a way to drop .esl’s. these in theory don’t count to the 150 mod limit iirc.

Besides size…xbox is limited by the whims of the mod authors (MA) like you said. Some MA’s just hate console so they won’t give rights to even port. They’d do no work. People like me would do all the porting work and just give the full credit for the source.

Some MA’s are cool…ask for permission and you get it. Others…some are tactful in the declines. Some sadly I have to say are PC master race idiots. Which is a shame but at the end of the day its their work and their call as to how that goes down.

I wish Blizzard would make a single player Warcraft action role-playing game
like the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Not everyone who plays console wants to play with keyboard/mouse - hence they play console and not PC. So Blizz would have to prune to make it work with both keyboard/mouse and controllers.

I’m not a fan of using controllers with a game like this, but there is a way for them to create a controller configuration that doesn’t require a further prune.

The reason I’m against adding controller(console) support is because I don’t want to group with someone using a controller.

That’s fine, if you want to mod games on the consoles, i just think you have more freedom to do so on the PC as an option. The key word here being Option.

Optimization isn’t really worth it if it only results in 30 fps and sub 1080p.

I much rather have the options to change the graphic settings as i wish to see fit. And i’m not talking about the complex options, there are low, medium, high presets, things to that nature.

I know, i’m just simply explaining that often times, the PC version is the superior version to the consoles.

And often times, PC games stay exclusive for PC for a variety of reasons, such as being designed with a Mouse + Keyboard in mind like MOBAs, Strategy games, and etc. Arma 3 is still on PC, so is Garry’s Mod.

Now, there are some cases where PC games does come to Console, The Sims 4, being the best example, which unlike the previous entries of the console counter parts, this looks just like the PC game and even plays like the PC game, almost. While the adaption has made to the console unscathed and being supported by EA with all the updates/DLC the PC game retrieves, i still wouldn’t recommend that version (Not because it’s The Sims 4, i don’t even play it on the PC) due to two important things. 1, no/limited mods, and 2, using a controller (so i have heard) is holy unreliable for building stuff, or selecting things as quickly you can as you can with a mouse. Yes i know, not everybody wants to use mods, i get it. But their options, and their there if you want one and shoulden’t be taken away/stifled.

CS:Go and TF2, and pretty much all of the Valve games made it on the consoles, TF2 especially hasn’t been supported in years on the console, the servers are still up and running, but all the free updates, fixes and content the PC has (and keep in mind, TF2 on the PC is F2P. TF2 on consoles come bundled with the orange box and they are $20, last time i checked. The Orange box is $20 on Steam, but the individual games themselves are often cut down significantly to peanuts in terms of prices when a sale happens.) it doesn’t have that. So prepare to be insta killed by sentries hiding inside of walls or up in the air.

I have talked about GTA SA and Bully a bit, so i’l talk them again here. Those versions are ported on to PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One. GTA SA remastered is ported on all of these while Bully has the scholarship edition ported on Xbox 360, one and the PS4 has the original PS2 game. (also the Wii has SE as well) It’s also worth noting that GTA SA and Bully scholarship edition both have their PC ports back in 2004 and 2008 respectively, and despite the troubled PC ports they have, normally you just downgrade and/or put in a silent patch and your good to go and it runs much better. Bully on PS4, being a 2006 game developed for the PS2, you think it would run better on the PS4, in the gameplay video i’m watching, it doesn’t run that much different. And with Bully SE making a jump from Renderware to Gamebyro on the Xbox 360 and PC (the same engine used for TES: Morrowind), got a bit more messier. I don’t need to tell you how awful the remastered versions were and the amount of glitches their is on consoles with GTA SA, do i? Simply put, without the ability to fix the issues yourself, the game is just broken on consoles.

Ehh, it’s a workable framerate, but it’s still a crap framerate.

That’s good their targeting 60fps, even though the PC is light years ahead. I just think if your gonna turn consoles into PC’s, you should also include the benefits of having a PC, like changing graphical options and such.

If you know how to operate a computer, then PC gaming and all that doesn’t take an arm or a leg to do it. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Like accounts for example, most of the time, if you buy a game on Steam and it requires another account, often times it just makes one for you or uses your Steam ID. And all of that doesn’t take long, even if Steam doesn’t do it automatically.

For Updates, you can delay them, and even if you let them though, they are usually shorter then the console’s update. The best part about PCs is you can also stop the Auto Updates if your on Windows 10, which works perfectly fine for me. Same thing with Steam, there are tricks to get around the forced updates, and seeing that i’m playing single-player games with mods from 2015 that are still being supported (Fallout 4, Cities Skylines, Dying Light, GTA 5 on PC), that gets really annoying real fast to keep up to date to any mod that is not compatible with the new version. While Cities and Dying Light remain mostly untouched in terms of mods, Fo4 and GTA 5 has that problem. Not everybody wants to update.

And modding the game these days are pretty darn simple or made to be simple. Nexus Mod launcher springs to mind where you can download Zip files from the Nexus site, and install them. The Sims 2 and 3 has a dedicated mod folder named “custom content” in documents to put the mods in there. Some are a little tricky, but once you learn them, it will come natural. I installed a Hardcore mode for Spyro that gives me all the superpowers and Free-Flight, all i had to do is follow the instructions on where it wants me to put it and i just renamed it to “pakchunk6-WindowsNoEditor” (Cause the game’s engine is Unreal engine 4) and it worked perfectly ingame.

Another thing with the PC, is it isn’t tied to one thing, it’s a multitude of things. Nexus is just one option to get Skyrim/Fallout 4 mods. Even more if you want something more …dubious. :smirk:

Also, Nexus has a mod page for PS4 versions of Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition, So there’s that.

Sounds like, all the most reasons to just stay on the PC for any game really. Especially with the second bit, cause that whole agreements thing doesn’t just apply to modders, but patches as well. Which means Patches will occur slower then on PC. Not to mention the bandwidth the consoles just constantly bottleneck for downloads and such.

I understand your saying you’re not forcing people into the console version of the PC, you just want to see a console port so you can attract new people Fair enough, but it’s just going to end up like how Overwatch and Diablo 3 did, cause the more superior version is on PC for a variety of reasons.

I just don’t see MMOs as part of the console community that’s always been a PC thing is all.

While you’re sort of right about the cost factor (I see it as a PC costs double what a console does, but has the potential to last twice as long) , I have a PS4 and I tried FFXIV on it, it definitely felt more restricted and smaller than this game. To be fair I didn’t play it very long. It just failed to hook me, and that’s kind of how I feel about PS4 in general, though that isn’t the topic so I’ll let it go.

I don’t think WoW will be great for consoles unless you were heavily focused on only using mouse and keyboard. Controllers would not ever allow this as there’s so many buttons to press to pull, so many things that would require rework to make macros work.

I’ll admit I always like to see WoW work on Consoles before but these problems won’t allow it to happen. ESO did it right, minimizing the amount of actions to press but they were really all you needed too.

That’s what I’m discussing, allowing more options to play WoW. I’m not saying PC players should move to consoles. I’m saying consoles could provide more options to WoW players.

A large swath is already playing at that on their PCs. Also the new consoles are going to be way more capable. I can run WoW perfectly fine on settings around high and 7 on my 2nd PC with an RX 480 that has roughly 4-5 teraflops of performance. The new consoles (PS5 & XBSX) will be 2 to 3 times more powerful than that. They wouldn’t be running WoW at sub 60 fps and are capable of native 4k.

I’m not telling you or any other PC gamer to move to console. I’m just saying there’s untapped community potential in the console player base. There are some console players that for various reasons will never become PC players.

MMOs have existed on consoles as far back as the Dreamcast (Phantasy Star Online in 2000) and PS2 (Final Fantasy 11 in 2002.)

Wow would not run on them (not even BFA, certainly not Shadowlands.) You can’t add 8 gig of system ram to a console. We have to upgrade computers every few expansions. Also, no addons would basically break Wow.

A Classic Wow would run on them, but they’d not bother.

Yes, ESO runs on a console but was made for them.

Blizzard also thinks there is no market for Wow on consoles, which is the biggest reason.

Except final fantasy is for betas

Yea, but they have the potential to upgrade and can be upgraded, Consoles don’t. Maybe when comes the time where consoles are upgradeable the same way the PC is done, then their might be a bit more on the consoles. This could be the potential future of the consoles if MS and Sony want to keep emulating PCs for their consoles, which means their ridding their simplicity of just putting a game in and be playing it right away, just like what the Sixth Generation consoles (and the Wii possibility) did. PS2 can play Movie DVDs, but that’s about it. You can’t really do that these days on the Xbox One and PS4 anymore. Heck, Xbox 360 and PS3 included, and that’s where it’s all started. You buy the disc, put it in, and instead of playing it right away, it just installs. PS2 (i’m not sure about the Xbox Original), if your playing on the fat model, does have the ability to play games off the hard drive, but it’s not mandatory like consoles today.

I don’t think it’s fair to say that “Console gamers don’t want to deal with that stuff on the PC”, when they have dealt with similar stuff on the consoles, because consoles for the past 10 years, have been trying to emulate what’s on a PC. Be that Installing stuff, connecting to services, logging in, having multiple apps like netflix and skype, etc.

As history has shown us on what has happened with the Seven, Eight and Eight/half generations, for a short while, yes. I myself would remain skeptical to the claims of Xbox Series X (Or “Xbox Two”) and PS5 being 2 - 3 times more powerful then a PC.

Off Topic rant: Why Microsoft sucks at naming things? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Xbox (original), Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One X and Xbox Series X.

Why couldn’t it be Xbox Xenon (or Xbox 1440) for the Ninth Gen one, Xbox 720: Scorpo for the Eight/Half one, and Xbox 720 for the Eighth One?

Or how about something like this?

Xbox 1, Xbox 2, Xbox 3, Xbox 3.5, Xbox 4.

Come on guys, Marketing. Can somebody tell Microsoft that 7 don’t come after 2000, or 1 doesn’t come after 360? :man_facepalming:

Thats just ffxiv designing for people who dont have thumbs. Because of an irl injury i use a controller to play wow and I do fine. I wish wows gcd was even lower than it is already. i cant stand my ret right now because with 19% haste its just too slow. Partially why I like DH. I get pretty much 100% haste for 12 seconds every 20 seconds or so.

but the crap performance, limited-to-no modding

Yeah. If wow went to console, console players would still be progging eternal palace lmao. Same story in ESO.

“PC players are so bad lmao they need addons to help them kill a boss” ~ESO players still progging years old raids

Yes, ESO runs on a console but was made for them.

Bro ESO barely even runs on PC. zenimax devs have 0 interest in making a good game, they just want to milk the crown store for as much as they possibly can while putting in as little effort as possible.
