Since archaeology is not coming back, can dwarves get a replacement racial?

So a recent interview, Wowhead link here associate director Maria Hamilton said:

With respect to archeology, we don’t foresee this coming back in its previous format or as a profession.

Can dwarves please have some kind of a new racial ability to replace this one?

Explorer: You find additional fragments when looting archaeological finds and you can survey faster than normal archaeologists.

Advocating for my dwarves out there … we’ve had a dead racial for what’s about to be 3 expansions :sweat_smile:

Edit: or maybe even just leave this one in for legacy reasons and add a brand new additional one?

Edit2: some ideas from the thread …

  • faster mining speed
  • extra materials from mining
  • extra gold (old trait)
  • personal brew keg that gives boost to profession stats

Yeah, if they’re abandoning Archaeology the Dwarf racial needs to be updated.

I’m also worried they’re going to just delete Archaeology entirely from the game one day and I still haven’t gotten Zin’rohk or Vial of the Sands. Guess I better get back to farming again just incase.

While this is true, racials generally
Don’t provide a benefit to events like the Azerothian archives etc.

Every other race has racials are relevant to the current expansion (evergreen) and dwarves are literally the only ones who have a racial for a now dead profession.

I imagine they’ll create some alternate way to obtain them eventually if they do.

I think it does work better as a world event like the big dig etc.

Confirmation from their own mouth there’s a little more sway to do this now … and they are already reworking the human racial due to war bands so it would make sense for them to also update dwarves!

I enjoyed Archaeology as a profession so I’ve always been mad that they just decided to abandon it. Imagine what cool artifacts we could have found on the Dragon Isles!

Honestly without obscenely stronger dwarf racials are than everyone else

Well I mean there is a difference between “not meta/super useful” and “not useful at all because it is only relevant to an abandoned system”.

It’d be like if Vulpera got bonus expertise.

Edit: Would a suitable replacement be Find Treasure?

“Find Treasure: Allows the dwarf to sense nearby treasure, making it appear on the minimap.”

That’s similar in flavor.

It’s also what Dwarves had before Arch was a thing.

I’m just thinking something in terms of racial flavor. Doesn’t even have to really affect combat.

Change the Dwarf archeology radical too Faster Mining or double ore amount when mined …like Taurens are faster at picking herbs…

And we use to be able to track Chests on the map no other race could…that was what was changed too archeology.
