The 3% nerf to Sin on the 19th of December didn’t make sense. Absent Power Infusion, Sin was clearly behind Outlaw and Sub. Outlaw and Sub weren’t touched, but Sin was.
(Warcraft Logs doesn’t attribute Power Infusion’s damage to Priests, like it does for Blessing of Summer, for example. The site attributes PI to the target, making the target seem more powerful than it is.)
Now that the 3% nerf is in, Sin players are being asked to reroll to Sub, and it makes sense. Sub was already very close to PI-ed Sin prior to nerfs (and on many fights, Sub was clearly ahead of Sin). Why should a Sin Rogue take 12k raid DPS from a BM hunter, when he can just go Sub?
I know balancing a game of this complexity is hard, but nerfing a spec that’s behind makes it feel bad to players that have chosen that spec to main.

If you want to blame somebody blame Whispyr for intentionally sandbagging sims causing all of it to happen in the first place lol. It was simming for like 220k right before the patch comes out, the “5% buff” happened and it shot up to 250k overnight because they didn’t push branch into the sims until after the buff happened.

Whispyr is a treasure and he deserves the highest praise for his work. I will entertain no suggestions otherwise.

Work, yes, assuming its true. Opinions no.
Then don’t make a thread from a level 12 mage. Peak irony.

Yeah, we definitely did not need that 3% nerf. That was an overcorrection and the drop to near mid-tier immediately after makes that clear. It’d also be good if they got PI and other buffs sorted out in the reporting.

sandbagging yes…being reliant on a third party to implement a trinket out of your control is def “sandbagging”
I came back to wow and Bam outlaw in gutted, I move to sin and Bam it’s nerfed.
Hear me Blizzard I am moving to warlock next. Then Hunter, so reset the poor rogue’s and leave them be!

rogue is fighting against elements, ofcourse it won’t be lunch daily, as the players levelled up.
Ideally, they could figure out how to keep PI as is and just re-attribute the damage gain to the priest.
But that’s a hard problem. Unlike other damage stats, it strikes me as super hard to calculate how much damage should be re-attributed due to the haste gain. (That may be why Aug doesn’t have any haste buffs.)
PI could be reworked to give a flat % damage increase, which would be easy to reattribute. (Or it could be reworked into a similar, but still easy to re-attribute stat.) But this loses some of PI’s flavor.
Or they could just implement some imperfect formula for re-attribution without changing PI, and accept some loss of precision. They could use a simple heuristic (say, 10% of all damage dealt during PI), or they could vary the heuristic for every spec (giving specs known to not value haste a lower % reattribution). But if this heuristic overestimates % damage gain, one could see players asking not to be PI’d, incorrectly thinking it’s a damage loss for them.
Personally, I’m a fan of the “rework PI to make it easier to re-attribute” line of thinking. It keeps a classic Priest ability close to where it started, solves the problem of Blizzard misnerfing classes that make good use of PI, helps Priests understand where their PI is best used. Win-win all around.

I really felt the nerf this past week. I’m now doing less DPS with higher ilevel.
Thanks Blizzard.

Yeah nerfs definitely seem a bit too heavy handed, especially compared to DH which apparently got a similar nerf and saw hardly any fall in output- sin’s just feeling kinda bad to play in keys at the moment, not sure what it’s like to raid on?
Ideally if they wanted to drop our KB burst damage, they should have buffed our sustain damage to compensate.

I mean biggest problem with the class right now regardless of specs doing “good” numbers is anything related to energy regen needs to be reverted. For whatever stupid genius reason our devs decided they wanted to completely destroy the way the specs feel instead of just actually putting in 5% effort tuning abilities instead which is why sin basically needs PI to be playable. Granted the topic is about sin, but outlaw for example literally isn’t even going to function next expansion without either a revert to energy generation and SS proc chance or the current tier set needs to be baked into the spec completely.
There was no excuse at all to change anything energy related.

sin had potential, it could have been a really, really fun class to play.
it ended up as clunky, and even when it does good damage, it’s barely worth the effort.
this is mostly because the rogue discord, especially the mods, are absolute fanboys. the best they can do is “this is fine, this is okey”. just watch the whyspyr reaction videos for the PTR patch notes. you see it in his eyes that he doesn’t like them, he’s dying inside, but all he manages is “this is ok”.
just look at the assa talent tree. 1 utility talent in the entire tree, and even that one is a choice node, intent to kill / iron wire.
no defensives, no nothing
truly unique spec design

Honestly wish the changes would be made without obtaining input from that server. At least for Sin. Outlaw players are generally just more vocal about what they want. Sub has Fuu but hes very unbiased in his opinions.
If Whispyr doesnt agree with something he immediately treats it as wrong and everyone follows suit.

They should prohibit all class devs from joining class discords. Class discords can easily be one sided and biased towards a particular playstyle and shut down anyone who disagrees with them. Why should a dev be taking a feedback from a discord server anyway, WHAT THE HECK ARE THE FEEDBACK FORUMS FOR???

they are here so the discord bros can look down on other people. they are here si they can feel superior
the fact that realz sometimes is active there validates them, makes them feel like the chosen ones, the ones that are right
honestly they operate more like a cult, slavish towards towards the ones they consider above them, churlish towards the ones they consider below

i dont want dev communication!! i want their to be silence regard spec design and tunign forever
I KNEW i remember you from somewhere. your the guy who got banned from rh for advocating the usage of racial slurs in community spaces. lmao
Can you say what you’re trying to say again but without sarcasm and in a way thats comprehensible?

advocating to close a communication window because its in a social media you dislike is very sus. especially for the reasons you give. forums, twitter, reddit, and even wowhead all have onesided bias groups that are arguably worse than classcords.
this extreme nature and this thread in general is why the window between dev and player communication was closed to begin with. you are acting that alot of the ideas from the feedback forums were ignored when a majority of the reworks main features came from it.
the idea of between the eyes being stronger and chainable like the azerite trait “Aces” came from a rando in the forums. not from the outlaw channel in the classcord. crack shot aka the biggest outlaw rogue change in the entire rework came from HERE
