Does it feel terribly awful to anyone else that we can only get one capstone compared to say warrior who can basically get every power known to man…
Just feels really terrible that I cant get Indiscriminate Carnage for AoE and either the Double Poisons (which has been fun on beta) or Kingsbane…
I dont know what the talent trees for DF look like, took some time off. But does it look like blizz is trying to get us sin rogues to build either a AoE build or ST build?
I really don’t agree with that decision to be honest.
You should be able to pick up two cap stones but the opportunity cost is you lose out on some other talents.
Right now Assassination feels very bare bones compared to Sub and Outlaw. Throw in the energy issues of Assassination and only being able to pick up one cap stone…GG
Numercially with tuning maybe Assassination will be fine but in terms of mechanics and options it feels very pigeonholed into Thistle Tea and only one cap stone.
Man that sucks to hear this about sin. Ive recently really really gotten into playing my sin rogue and dang i should have played this class from the get go. Just hope its good to go in DF.
You can get both Kingsbane and IC. You just cant get any other combination of 2 because of poison bomb being 2 points instead of 1 like tiny toxic blade or shrouded suffocation.
It’s sloppy. It’s clear this is done to prevent Kingsbane and DTB being taken together, but design wise this obviously indicates these should have been a choice node.
All we can hope for now is continued iteration on the trees over time.
Rabban, don let it discourage you. While assassination might feel bare bones like Mafic has said especially compared to lets say fury warrior. Who on beta I can prettyyyyy much get like 6 capstones, avatar, recklessness AND 3-4 huge hitting AoE abilities and it just feels so fluid and fun to play.
Assassination is still going to feel the best its felt in AWHILE.
Deathmark is awesome, and couple that with the double lethal poisons makes it even more awesome.
Having the ability to have Poison bomb (Which procs ALOT) AND crimson tempest is awesome.
As much as people are hating on Thistle tea being a capstone (which their right) Thistle Tea + Two charges of Shiv + marked for death, you can really time your burst really well and not have to worry about where your sitting with points and energy, it feels really fluid.
BUT with all that being said, UNLESS they over tune garrote to kind of BFA numbers (Which they wont because of Single Target and PvP) I still think even if you did take IC our AoE will be lacking. Which also saddens me because look at feral druids and affliction warlocks, the other DoT specs, their AoE and ST are both crazy. Where it looks like we will still really specialize in ST with ok AOE. BUT our AoE will be in a much better spot than what it is now.
I still think I plan even in M+ to not even run IC because of the cost it takes to get there. But we will see what final tuning looks like. I love the idea of IC just dont know if I will be able to give up my DTB for it unless the numbers are tuned in a way makes us do very good AoE again.
We shall see how tuning goes and what happens. But as of now I foresee myself taking DTB and just manually dotting everything like we do now and just having Crimson Tempest and Poison bomb. Not gonna lie though when I get on my fury warrior on beta and then on my sin rogue…Kinda makes me sad. Multiple HUGE capstones, PLUS an aoe stun, plus 2 huge cooldowns…
Also Rehk, I know you can technically get Kingsbane and IC BUT you really cant…You have to not take so many a handfuls of nodes that you really need to actually pull this off. EDIT : Ok i see another way of doing it. But you still cant take the FoK damage talents, elaborate planning, or cut to the chase. Which I think I can live with cause even if my (Main build) i wasnt taking the FoK damage talents.
You can have different builds for different content.
An AoE build fro M+
A single target build for raiding
Something different for PvP
Good to hear and thank you for all the info. Im so new to rogue that im still learning the class. The class to me is so much more immersed then others ive played plus its just fun as hell.

With the latest Beta release, there are talent tree paths where you can have up to 4 of the 6 capstone talents. You can have a combination of any two in the Rogue class tree along with Kings Bane and Indiscriminate Carnage from the Assassination tree.
I’m not implying any of these builds are viable, only that it’s possible.
