I’m at the point with my rogue I could go either way. Outlaw seems more fun if I don’t have to reroll a bunch. But how close is outlaw and sin when both are similarly geared high ilevel?
just go assassination. it seems to be the only rogue spec blizz is competent in buff/nerfing to any degree. sure they murdered the ST ability of shrouded suffocation . . . but lets be honest here . . that needed to be done . . . it’s still amazing in m+, just not a go to for raids.
sub just got nudered quicker than a kitten who sprayed your carpet. and the only trait outlaw rogue gets buffs their AoE . . . . . which they already excelled at . . . . and their ST is still sub par compared to assassination
If you enjoy the RNG playstyle of outlaw then by all means go ahead. I personally like the spec so long as i don’t get one of 2-3 specific buffs, cause my dmg goes in the dumpster (vs the 1 good buff and 2 ok buffs where i do neutral to good dmg). I stopped playing it when the deadshot playstyle kept getting nerfed so badly it’s becoming unplayable. that at least I enjoyed.
I have just started trying to level up a rogue, and I was liking outlaw until roll the bones. That one spell has just totally turned me off the spec , specifically for the reasons you state, when it is good it is good, when it isn’t , it blows.
The big problem with Outlaw isn’t the RNG. It’s people not knowing or bother to learn how to work with the RNG. There are many tools and guides out there to keep players rolling and succeeding but these require reading and practice. I hated Roll the bones more than anyone probably but I forced myself to learn it.
The truth is despite what many people will tell you Outlaw along with Sin and Sub Rogues are in a really good place and need nothing from Blizz but to be left alone.
I’ve went back and forth all this morning one dungeon sin one dungeon outlaw. I have 2 345 weapons as outlaw and 2 325 as sin and I have two dead eyes if I had some other gear with some sin azerite traits i think sin would do just as good. I struggle on aoe too but I think I need to change my last talent to crimson tempest and learn to use it.
CT is not worth the pick, in mine, and most Rogues opinion. You need to learn to train yourself to tab target to spread poisons, ruptures and garrots. Also, don’t be discouraged if in heroics or low lvl M+ you aren’t able to keep up with classes that have the 1 button F U (DHs) ability that does crazy AoE. Mut’s AoE really starts to shine the longer the trash stays alive. To recap, do NOT take CT
I can’t remember if outlaw has gotten any changes at all, but I still love it and plan to stick with it for pve and bgs.
I did the same. Really enjoyed outlaw until I got rtb, then pretty much immediately respecced. They just need to remove the rng and id go back in a heartbeat.
Mut all day long. We don’t have the burst AOE of combat, but we will catch up at the end of a fight. RtB is annoying and not reliable. Sub, well…not this xpac it seems. Gosh I miss DFA.
Well there a lot more sin xmogs than outlaw I can tell sin st is ahead but I have such a hard time on trash packs in uldir given my daggers are 325 I’m bottom of the barrel on trash pulls. I was also told not to go crimson tempest as it wasnt worth it.
Sin blows away Outlaw in PVP, hands down. Sin has far more pressure and greater damage. RtB is a waste. Just replace RtB with something that helps us keep up damage and pressure wise, good to go.
Takes Blizz forever to make changes. Only way they actually WILL make that change is if enough Outlaw rogues complain. But they aren’t, they’re playing Sin.
Each spec has a core mechanic which it’s designed around:
Outlaw: Roll the Bones
Assassination: Poisons
Subtlety: Shadow Dance
I don’t expect that change anytime soon.
Totally agree. But Poisons > all else.
Idk. I have a lot of issues with sin in pvp doesnt seem to apply the same pressure as I do as outlaw. But then again I’m stuck with 325 daggers.
I haven’t played outlaw. But I for sure have 0 problems in pvp as sin.
I’ve only been able to clear lfr and normal on my rogue but as sin I cant keep up on the trash pulls.
The Deadshot build was so fun to play too
I’m getting kind of sick of seeing all the posts saying RtB sucks when people don’t take Outlaw’s Azerite traits into account. They completely prop up the spec unlike Assassination’s that just increases their damage. Rerolling doesn’t feel bad at all when you understand that Snake Eyes will keep your DPS stable after every reroll. Rolling well isn’t the point of the spec anymore like it was in Legion, just the end goal. In an ideal world we would just stack Deadshot and have every roll be a good one but sadly that’s not how it’s designed.
Still, I agree with what other people have said here. Sin for PvP even though Outlaw can be fun in it as well with all their mobility. Sin for raiding since their single target is a lot better. Outlaw for leveling and M+ since their AoE is just a lot easier to use.
As outlaw if my vanish is on CD I can grapple and sprint. Cloak off spells and stealth. Just outlaw does so bad st. My only complaint. And fights where you have to run with high mechanics not dot to help your damage
It’s just not a fun design. Its like actually so stupidly designed I wouldn’t even play it if it was the only viable spec for pve and pvp.
Like it isn’t hard to DL weakauras and play with it, but it’s just so awful and dumb that it isn’t even fun to play.
