Simplifying Classes but

I love the new direction the game is heading which is “easy to learn, hard to master”. Its really a throwback to earlier WoW and Blizzard game design.

What I don’t get is why the talent tree haven’t been pruned.

Its no secret that talent trees are trying to satisfy two masters:

  • You want players to be able customize their character’s power
  • You want to give players something cool every level. This is why the number of talent points to distribute is exactly equal to the number of levels

The problem becomes when you have 90 talent points to distribute you either end up with boring talents (+3% to crit chance) or overloading spells (“Renewing Mist”).

So I suggest a few changes for the next expansion:

  1. Instead of giving players a talent point at every level, give them a cool piece of gear! Make it so that as you level you collect an old item/tier set as you level. This gear will be obsolete at level cap but at the same time make your character feel very powerful
  2. Have just a talent tree with 20 to 40 real options. I vastly prefer either the old vanilla talent trees or something along the lines of PoE than having three sets of talent trees with an illusion of choice
  1. Hell no. Go play Classic then.
  2. This isn’t PoE.
