Hello, I want to make it my goal to get Gladiator by the end of this expansion(preferably not at a time where people refer to it as welfare gladiator but if that’s what happens I don’t mind too much). While I am aware that Fire Mage is a very strong caster right now, I believe that I would be better suited to a simpler spec so I can focus on the fundamental properties of Arena. After doing some research, the classes that seem to fit my description are Arms Warriors, Shadow Priests, Affliction Warlocks, and Retribution Paladins. Are there any classes I might be missing, or does anyone have insight on which of these classes are simpler to execute so that I can focus on Arena itself? Thank you.

When you pick your class let’s team up. I’m looking for something on the easier side as well. Life is hard enough. I don’t log into a game for that to be hard as well lol
fire mage easiest spec rn not even trolling. Play rmpala, stun everyone, sheep healer, combust kill target, get CD’s repeat. Get ur ridiculous OP triune triple shield legendary and never die.
I’d say either arms or ret.
Arms has a pretty lowish skill floor that makes it easier to learn, but I think a high skill cap - especially with the new utility brought back in the new xpac. It’s pretty simplistic in its play style but can have a huge impact on the game and has lots of areas to learn.
Ret is very similar in that regard, but I think if you only want to dps warrior is the better option for longevity in terms of consistency in viability and comp options. If you might wanna pick up healing, holy is normally always great and one of the easier healers IMO.
Personally, I think the casters are a lot harder to pick up if you’re looking for simplicity.
all those classes you listed are just as complex if not more so then fire mage.
There is no free ride to glad, even when the class is busted you still need good knowledge of the class as well as good awareness to what every other class can do.
Shadow priest and aff lock are definitely out if you want simple. Ret is actually not face roll, even though people who have never played one say they are. Arms warrior as well, you have to manage cooldowns properly.
Also there is no such thing as welfare gladiator. People use it to describe classes they feel are OP, I dont care how busted the class is, you arent hitting glad without a pretty comprehensive knowledge of arena strategy.
affliction and shadow have in my opinion a higher skill floor than fire mage right now, if you want to hit glad but struggle with the best caster then I’d stay way from casters in general (or my recommendation: get better)
arms and ret are very straightforward, you can pick up arms just w-pedaling a healer/squishy and get decent success but it has some proactive tools that do require experience to get the fullest out of (banner/bladestorm/maybe intervene) but you probably do not need to play like blizo to reach glad especially later in the season
ret damage is stupid high though, both are good options
I’d just stick with mage, it’s probably one of the most rewarding classes if you get better at it
This happens every expansion on a few toons. Last expansion it was destro locks and anyone playing rmpal. Don’t worry about how you get it.
honestly if you really want to learn rapidly play a healer. Not saying glad dps is easy, but it’s just a different ball game. As a healer you WILL be punished if you don’t know how to position, as a dps? Yeah, but not as severely. Healing is really hard, and it requires a very deep understanding of arena macro. Keeping it a bean, you could prob hit 2400 after inflation with some dps class and kinda just mongo it, with some called switches now and then, but as a healer no way
Paladin 10char
DK toolkit is pretty straight forward and doesn’t require as much key binds BUT without having good CD management and being able to pressure DPS while also keeping an eye non stop on the enemy healer for grips/kicks you wont get far. You are SUPER easy to kill currently and constantly need to manage your RP and know when its safe to dump or save for Death strike. AMZ is a super broken ability but requires very quick and smart placement as its easy to waste or get used late esp vs fire mages who can kill in under a second vs combust or boomkins currently. You also have very limited mobility so you will need to know how to manage runes as to be able to keep the uptime while not wasting runes just spamming
