In the next expac, can the devs just add mouseovers into the game?
Just a little check box or something that you can turn on mouseovers for all your spells or maybe even just individually.
Its been 18 years. Its time. Im tired of making macros for every new character I make.
That already exists in game. But in my opinion its not great compared to how the macros function.

What are you doing, healbot? You arent targeting each person before you heal them right?
If healbot, fyi, mouseovers work on the healbot panels. I do it because im old and its less carpel tunnel inducing to use mouseovers.
You put your mouse over the character panel and click a button on your keyboard or mouse to heal.
So you only click once instead of twice to click player then click ability
I don’t use healing addons. I just set up framed with elvui/benikui and roll with it

Yeah but if your arent using mouseovers you are doing two clicks. One click selects them with the mouse and then the other hand is hitting the hotkey. Mouseover is probably nearly twice as fast as that. Healbot achieves this but its all on the mouse which if you are old, can wear that right hand out lmao.
My mouseovers are bound to my hotkeys so I just put my mouse over the target and hit the key. Its faster.
Also its invaluable for dps spells because you dont have to cycle target to stun something. You just mouse over the target and hit the hotkey. way faster.

Just so you know when this was released it was incompatible with Bartender 4.

I still prefer the mouseover macros because the toggle also causes your damage spells to cast on mouseover which I never want to have happen.
Blizzard really should change it so you can toggle it for helpful or harmful spells. But then you got wierd spells like holy shock which are both.
But are you spending a click to select the target on your raid frame that you’re going to heal with your hotkeyed heals? Mouseover just removes that need to click on the target, so like as a paladin you can keep the boss selected to crusader strike it and mouseover a dps on raid frame and not have to retarget the boss to throw a hammer of wrath
This exists right now on live in the settings, but i still prefer my old and reliable macros

I tried being a clicker early on but man…I was accidently clicking all sorts of the wrong stuff when things got crazy.
MY Brother in law has been playing the game since it was released and he is still a clicker. He doesnt heal though, but still.
Coming from other games that rely on both KB and mouse, I just couldnt click well enough and turned to macros in the first month of playing the game.
Thats roughly half as slow as mouseover because it involves two click. Also double work for the hands which doesnt matter when young but as you age…
Well i mean all of my spells are hot keyed… and use the Elvui group interface… but that is what I’ve always done since way back when there was just grid. I mean to me it isn’t really that much more difficult than being a dps and pressing those keys except for the fact that not only do I have to heal, but dps and stay out of the bad… lol
Edit: and people would die if I had to change how I do things…
so tempted to try that addon out, but worried if the creator decides to flake out and leave it that I’ll have gotten too dependent on it.
All the addons I use are pretty low key and if they arent around anymore they wont affect my game much (Farmhud, Gathermate, etc).
For most dps it wouldnt matter because you are swapping targets a lot less often.
For multi-dotting you definitely want mouseovers.
For PVP you are definitely hamstringing yourself because getting off a CC on the target you are not targeting currently is way slower. Focus target macros can help but in BGs or 3s+ you are capping your self w/o mouseovers.
