Simple quite OP MM hunter burst build/rotation

Hi. I’m a casual pvp’er who doesn’t do rated content.
I’m getting good results and having a lot of fun with this setup for MM hunter, and I figured I’d let people know, in case they wanted to try it out. As great as it is, this fun won’t last after Shadowlands, so enjoy it while you can! This is a setup for single-target burst.

  1. There are two important talents: Double Tap, so rapid fire will shoot 100% additional shots, and Lock and Load, for a chance at a free, instant aimed shot.

  2. This build depends on joining the Necrolord covenant, in Maldraxxus.

This gives you the death chakram ability. Included in this ability is the base effect that you have 10% increased physical damage against a target for 10 seconds.

  1. For your conduits, you want Plague Deviser Marileth.

Then you want Plaguey’s Preemptive Strike. Your first attack against a target increases all your damage against that target by 12% for 15 seconds.

Then you want Necrotic Barrage. Fully upgraded, this gives your death chakram 16% more damage.

Then at the end you want Kevin’s Oozeling. Now, when you attack with death chakram, you summon kevin’s oozeling, which then attacks your target and gives you 6% increased damage against that target.

  1. For your Legendaries, you want Surging Shots, which makes Rapid Fire deal 35% more damage. And you want the Unity legendary. In the Necrolord covenant, Unity makes up to 2 of your targets hit by death chakram automatically also hit by Explosive Shot.

  2. What this looks like: Click Double Tap, so it is active on you. Open up on your target with Death Chakram. And, then, waiting a second for kevin’s oozeling to attack, follow through with Rapid Fire. So, over all, you’re clicking three abilities.

  3. What is happening: Double Tap prepares Rapid Fire to fire 100% additional shots, with the 35% damage boost from the Surging Shots legendary. When you open with Death Chakram, you instantly get Plaguey’s Premeptive strike for 12% increased damage, and Death Chakram’s 10% increase to physical damage. Explosive shot is applied to your target, which will explode in about 3 seconds. After a second, Kevin’s Oozeling applies Kevin’s wrath, which gives you 6% increased damage. Then you follow through with Rapid Fire, which gets boosted from Double Tap and the legendary Surging Shots, and does physical damage. And, if Lock and Load procs, you can add in an aimed shot for free.

So, you click three abilities, (with maybe an aimed shot if Lock and Load procs,) which takes like 3-5 seconds, and by this point in time, in my experience, most decently geared targets are in a world of hurt.

You should post this on the Hunter forums

You completely left out the best part of our toolkit: camoflage. Nothing better than FD, camo, DT, and AS someone to the face.

i think you and everyone missed the point entirely….

he’s winning while clicking his specials!!!

Ah, my apologies. I hardly, hardly ever use the forums, and I thought “pvp” was sufficiently specific…I didn’t even realize there were specific hunter forums.

Hey, don’t worry about it, Xanjae! I think your post is fine here too. You’ll just most likely get better reception on the hunter forums.

just press aimed shot and rapid fire and top charts from halfway across the map.

is EZ

oh sheet, I was shooting from Dun Baldur to Stonehearth Bunker when some skeezy mage stuck me to the floor and I wuz blinded by a dorky rogue. Then I wuz charmed off of a cliff, and finished off by a silly lion-looking troll who kept sticking me in the hiney with his roots. I cudn’t even hurt them cuz they had somebuddy hiding in a closet healing them. I wanna cry!

Sarcasm doesn’t translate well in text…sigh

There are counters for everything a Hunter can do. There are definitely a number of times players are one-on-one in BG’s but I find most encounters to be with multiple players on each side (that is if you like not having to corpse run every 2 minutes). Our bigger shots are non-mobile, and have a cast window + cooldown. Most of the cool tricks come with a sacrifice via talents, binds, and conduits. While turtled, we can’t use offensive power, only defensive and limited at that. Everyone wants to complain about our one glaring strength, and totally disregard the fact that we have become a very squishy class. That was an intentional tradeoff on the part of Blizzard.

Think of the real world. A hunter, or better yet, a sniper can take out his target from a mile away. This is FACT. Now you drop an angry enemy into the sniper hide, and the tides shift 180 degrees. Why should a ranged sniper-type player be any different?

you are going to feel real bad when you dont have your tier set fighting players that do…just dont complain when thats the case.
