Silvermoon's dead scar is being retconned and removed in midnight

Another show that devs don’t care for old wow lore and want it gone and out the window.

For those who don’t know:

The dead scar is the area thats gray and has skeletons on its path in silvermoon/forest. It was created by Arthas in wc3 on his way into the city. There’s an NPC who says the dead scar cannot be healed, its permanent.

So whats the issue? Its just gone in midnight. Somehow…the dead scar was magically healed by the power of plot armor or friendship or w/e. This was so iconic to have and a memory of what happened long ago only to be removed without care and further shown “we want old wow lore gone”. Such a disgrace.

Or you know, maybe we wait and see what happens? Alpha will be out soon enough then we can judge from there. But you don’t think the Blood elves haven’t tried over the past 19 years to fix their land?

Some have already pinpointed the new botani are appearing around Deatholme, maybe that would explain the sudden presence? :world_map::robot:

According to what we knew 18 years ago it couldn’t be healed, but that really doesn’t make sense in a magical society anyway. They figured it out. And not all of Quel’thalas will be completely removed of the damage that Arthas and his scourge did.

They aren’t erasing the old lore, just building on that. My bigger concern is them wanting to sentence Belves that used fel to death. I am not here for sanitizing Blood Elves. If they want to have that as a characteristic of some elves, fine, but not all elves. Even the Blood Knights have a dark history.

If you’re still on about one of the new dungeons like you were in another thread a while ago, I reaaaaaally don’t think this is the case. It sounds to me like whatever elves we’re going after in that dungeon are doing things that’re really bad, even in the context of fel usage. Remember that during this dungeon, we’re going to be working with a demon hunter. They use fel and are an elf, right? That alone is enough to tell me that BEs are not attempting to purge all use of fel from their society, but rather that whoever the enemies are in this dungeon are up to some bad stuff.

We essentially stopped the scourge from marching aimlessly 15 years ago. In that 15 year period, I’m sure they had enough time to get some goblins over to patch up the wall and start putting down some new cement.

I don’t know about that. Silvermoon is the city that bans Void Elves but they didn’t go into why void using classes are allowed there. They supposedly will this next expac. But I don’t think it means they won’t be that aggressive towards fel users. I’m just going on what they said about the dungeon in interviews.

Same reason forsaken can be priests despite the fact that it should burn and kill them on the spot[the light]. Purely gameplay.

Thats like complaining they fixed up a burnt up building. Sometimes you need to rebuild and cover up the past

Right, which is my point. There isn’t any indication yet that they will make it make sense. It just for now is something they said will be. And I just want to leave the feedback before we even get into alpha that I don’t want nor need the complete sanitization of Blood Elves. I don’t need them to all be good and just to play one or enjoy their story.

You do know that WoW is ever changing right? I mean Cataclysm changed the entire layout of the map and the ONLY two zones that have remained unchanged (Quests included) are Azuremyst/Bloodmyst and Eversong/Ghostlands.

This game CHANGES, as time changes, The scar by now will be well healed.

This post shows you know NOTHING about the lore of the game and how an actual game works. GO play fortnite or something.

Im alright with undeath fading over time. It was never something in lore that occured naturally without at the very least being set off by a person

If my theory is correct on where the narrative is going they 100% are trying to remove classic lore. It seems they are doing everything to paint over the canvas. Look at the plot… The shifts in leadership, the new NPCs stealing glory and responsibility from long standing Characters, the lack of respect for our “Champion” who gets treated like a basic peasant.

I’m ok with it being magically healed, finally, after almost 20 years. Hopefully there is dialogue of them talking about how it took them forever but they finally figured it out.

Personally I’d love for zones/cities to be updated every 5-10 years, considering that is what happens in most societies. I want to see progress.

I want to see Undercity, Exodar, Gilneas, Darnassus or the new city updated, with the surrounding areas as well, as it should be. My personal opinion though and I only speak for me.

I’d love for current used cities to be updated as well, SW, Org, IF and TB would be great with big updates as well.

How does that show the devs don’t care about the lore? It’s been years in Azeroth time, why wouldn’t they have been able to cure the problem by now?

Did you know we High Born had quests recently in the Dead Scar? It was for our armor, and times change, after 18 years I suspect we found a way
