Silithus is the word coined for the lands south of the forests and plains of Val’Kaldor - And though the land had long since been cultivated by elves, the word itself is of Zandalari origin.
It means “The Sea of Bones.”
It stretches across the craggy cliffs of the Tanaris shore, to the rolling dunes of Uldum, and the dark sands of Ahn’Qiraj.
The crater formed by the Titans is cause for this vast desert - for the mountain range it caused shielded the land from the fresh and fertile winds of feralas and Mulgore. Many have come, wishing to conquer the sands - to tame them - but as they entered the land of Bones, so too did they join it. Beneath the sands lie a thousand sleeping empires, and within their sandstone walls, a million sleeping souls. Each cursed by the land, each doomed their fate.
And below, far below these lifeless wastes
…the spawn of darkness skitter and writhe, feasting upon the corpse of civilization with glut and voracious appetite. They ensure that each kingdom sinks within the sand - and is forgotten.
Do not dare travel to silithus, adventurer - or you too may be awash in the sea of Bones.
