So, I’ve crafted it. I’ve started to use it. I specifically crafted it to make ends meet with the mats we have for raiding. But I really need something explained:
Why do you want me to log in every hour just to be annoyed at your game and log out ticked off, and how is this a good thing to elicit from a customer?
For those that are unaware of how this item works, once an hour you may click on it and it will randomly turn into 1 of 4 items: a replenishing costal healing pot, a random cosmetic, a travel portal, and one that saves you a significant # of mats when crafting. All of these items exist for 1 hour (logged in or out), then you must pull the handle again.
Now, even if I found all of these enjoyable and useful, I don’t engage in unstructured play since founding my guild; when I log in, I have things to do. Needless to say, the gem in the dross is the crafting bonus. Even the crafting bonus is not coded for satisfaction - it lasts 10min upon activation, then you need to stand around for another 10 min before you can activate it again. Another reason to stand in front of a vault screen annoyed at the company. >.<
Please reconsider how this (or these, if the other professions are the same) has been implemented. Consider giving your players some agency in their play, even if this reduces the number of times we have access to any of the 4 items, because the odds are that this “gift” leaves one feeling bad more likely than good.
Thank you.
It’s probably working as intended just so people like you can’t log on an alt and crash the market. Maybe tell your guild to spend some of their own time getting the consumables they need to raid.
Except that is stupid considering cauldrons almost triple what you put in (12->30). The proc rate increase affects ALL rank 3s including flasks/cauldrons. I got 7 cauldrons from crafting 4 with the buff up. Not even including all the flasks I got along the way so I probably only made 2 cauldrons worth of mats and got 7 out. 24->210. Thats almost a 1000% return on investment.
You perhaps have been hasty in your skimming. I stated that I would prefer to have less access to the bonus if I could schedule it, rather than have more access but in a grindy, frustrating way. So no need to fear market impact.
Thank you for your suggestion on how to run my guild, but they are already a helpful lot and I’d rather them not be frustrated and annoyed by the game, either. I prefer to have them logging in to play, not to “check in” multiple times out of the day on the random chance that they could be useful, then feeling the need to apologize when they cannot be of service; because normal people feel saddened when they can’t help.
You are not playing the game as intended. What you are supposed to be doing is encountering these as a bonus when you are out doing world content. I have no idea why blizzard couldn’t foresee people would do exactly what you are doing, just camping them for free stuff.
I agree that is terrible game play but it really is your choice to do that.
this is a huge omg. Normal people if they want to help would be out gathering herbs and making flasks and potions, not just sitting around waiting for welfare flasks.
It is a horrible thing. First day I’ve got the item I was logging every hour just to see if I can get the alchemy bonus. I swear if I get 1 more time of the coastal potion I’m gonna kill someone
Citation needed. The item did not come with a manual, sadly. Nothing on it, as it is located in my professions pane and not a random disconnected “hey look at this thingy!” drop, indicates where I should be standing when I use it.
But, thank you, at least, for focusing on the entire point of my post which was to point out that it seems to be:
…and I can’t for the life of me fathom why they would design the item in this way.
Lastly - if you would care to read, I already indicated that they are a helpful bunch and do all of that (and more), however when you know you have a chance to make a impact on the work load of everyone else, and you “fail the roll” so to speak, it doesn’t feel good.
The whole point of the post is to call in to question game design that causes more negative experiences than positive. Not for leaps of imagination regarding AH PvP and how you (general you) would run my guild. Nor for misplaced aggression regarding the level of the award that Blizzard assigned. I just can’t get over the poor design.
Ion said they design the game in a way they think is fun. Camping is not fun, the way people are trying to loot these is not fun. However, if they seriously thought people would just run across these in their daily activities and interact with them, that might be fun. I think they think of something and then just can’t go one step further and consider how the player base will use something. Which means one person and only one person is designing these, or one person and a team of yes men are designing these.
If someone suggested this on this forum, I am sure it would have been torned apart long before they implemented it.
The JC one actually isn’t all that bad. There are 6 locations for the shrines and each shrine gives you a different color gems (mainly) and there is a daily cd. The alchemy one should have been set up in a similar manner.
Agreed. If I wasn’t running a guild, and just logging in and out as I pleased, I know exactly how I would approach this and while not always a win, it would not be as poorly received.
I would log in, and click it, and depending on the result, order my playtime around that. That could be fun.
But it is as if they forgot their lesson learned with glyphs - do not mix game advantages with cosmetics. Separate those systems out.
No. It is random. I just received the disguise one twice in a row. I’ve not yet gotten the potion one. I hope to before we raid this coming Wed.
Well, I was reluctant. But I thought it would be a revolving thing, not entirely RNG the way it is. And, according to those who have experienced the buff, it may need toned down regardless.
I would much rather they modify the benefit and remove the rng. I mean, you can’t even plan an RP thing around the cosmetic buff.
Where do i find information on where these spawn? I made the item, broke my promise to never run dungeons again in this expansion after i did one while leveling one of my characters.
Any info appreciated. Ill play the RNG game i guess.
I’m not sure I understand you. If you have the item, every hour you can right click it and it transmutes into one of these items (randomly) listed in the comments. Sorry if I misunderstood your question.
