Significant world lag/packet loss specifically in WoW

I’ve been having horrid latency issues for the past 3 weeks or so. For me it felt like it was just Battleground Blitz and Solo shuffle where world MS would spike to anything from 200 to 5000. Even at 200 it felt like 2000 and toon unplayable. Gradually got worst and can happen in any bg and some of the arena maps. I’ve tried your fix and so far there’s a noticeable improvement. Even if World MS increases to 150 my toon feels totally playable where as before that 150 would feel like 2000. I’ll do further testing but so far there’s an improvement.

Thanks.

Hello, I’ve been having some latency issues since the latest weekly reset on 12/19. Started on 12/20 actually, and always on group content. My normal ping is around 100-150ms, but whenever I enter a group for m+, the ping stars to ramp up to the point the game becomes unplayable, specially as a tank on higher keys, it’s deadlier than the bosses on tyrannical week.

Internet has been tested and is normal, already reset router, checked cables, etc. What is the proper way to trace this bad latency? Tried looking into some Blizz support articles but couldn’t find the most updated method. Thanks!

Latest updates:

I talked to my ISP, and they were generally of no help. I asked to speak specifically to a level 2 or 3 technician multiple times, and after half an hour the best I got was a supervisor who KIND OF sounded like they had at least some sort of clue what they were talking about regarding packet loss and connection issues(and by that I mean it simply sounded like they at least kind of knew what packet loss was, which was still a massive upgrade over the first person I spoke to in customer support). Best they could come up with is suggesting a wifi extender, they reset the modem from their side(this is their first and only solution for basically everything in my experience), or picking up a replacement modem from them. Most of the time the packet loss was originating around hops 2 or 3 to Blizzards US West game servers(which I explained to them), so I asked them if there were any known problems with their local servers and they basically said no, even though the packet loss originating there would suggest exactly that.

Also ran into a somewhat…interesting? result while trying to troubleshoot today(after I called the ISP and they did a factory reset on the modem from their end), maybe it can provide some sort of clue:
I went ahead and renamed all my WTF/Interface/Cache folders and loaded up the game with fresh ones and ran PingPlotter to the US West server, and it was instantly showing 40-50% PL from hop 1(my router), but no PL% elsewhere until 5+ min later where 0.5%-1.5% PL showed up around hop 3, then hop 5 or 6. It has never shown ANY PL% at my router anytime before I spoke to my ISP. I then went ahead and reloaded my normal WTF/Interface/Cache folders again and it showed 20% PL at hop 1, which has then slowly been climbing up to 40%+ over the last 5-10 min, as well as 0.4%-2% PL slowly and gradually showing up at the other hops down the line. Again, Ive never had PL% show up at my router before this, nor has it ever returned PL% this high. I ran multiple speedtest’s and a packetloss test’s at the same time, and both were essentially perfectly normal outside of one of the packetloss tests showing 0.7% PL and one of the speedtests showing 0.1% PL once.

The only weird thing is, despite it showing 20%-50% PL at hop 1, and 0.4-2% at subsequent hops, ive been flying around Valdrakken and there doesnt seem to be any lag or packet loss at all. Maybe that would change in raid or a key, but I hesitate to go do those things when it somehow says my pl% is that high at hop 1.

No news, problem still there…
