Siege of Boralus Last Boss? What to do?

I’d say I know all the dungeons well enough. Except Siege of Boralus. It seems whenever I attempt a Mythic Plus on this, it always ends in disaster.

I attempted a Siege of Boralus +10 with a pug.

24 deaths later. We get to the final boss.

I don’t know this last boss well enough. But I’m still so confused by what we’re supposed to do here. We somehow got to 96 deaths before I called it. My team sucked anyway (Low DPS, not much healing), but what were we doing wrong on this boss for it to wipe us? Explosions were controlled, first Demolishing Terror was killed, then I tanked the next Demolishing, but everyone kept going to the Demolishing terror rather than prioritizing Gripping Terror?

I’m so confused about this last boss, can someone kindly explain it to me pls?
I know we’re supposed to get the gripping terror down to fire the cannon. But what is the priority here, because no matter what, we keep wiping. The 3rd Gripping is the farthest we got. But it kept wiping us and Demolishing Terrors were spawning everywhere.

Crushing are always first to die. If you dont attack the Gripping till the first Crushing is down you can full group DPS it longer. Should Delay the spawning of the next crushing on the second platform.(so im told)

The final Crushing has 2x the HP and needs 100% focus. Normally can lust here.

“Heals/dps sucked, but I the stalwart defender of my group, was immaculate in gameplay.”

I probably sucked too.

There are 3 areas, you go left/clockwise after finishing.

Every area: Demolishing Terror > Gripping Terror.
Any Demolishing Terror that are not being tanked will deal massive physical damage to the party. If too many spawn, the tank will not be able to tank both.

After defeating the Gripping Terror tentacle the Kul’tiran engineer will fix the cannon for you: Anyone needs to jump in, aim at the Kraken, and fire. Repeat this 3 times, 1 per area.

Tank: Hold threat on Demolishing Terror.

Healer: Dispel Putrid Waters.
Wait until the afflicted are isolated to prevent damage and knock back.
My dispel priority: Healer > DPS > Tank.

Damage: Kill order: Demolishing Terror > Gripping Terror.

All: Avoid damage circles.

  • DPS the big tentacle first whenit is up.
  • Tank needs to get the big tentacle and try to aim it away from the group.
  • DPS the gripping tentacle in-between big tentacles.
  • When cannon is ready, fire it and immediately move to next tentacle.
  • Don’t stand in the green crap
  • Don’t stand in the path of where a big tentacle will slap the ground
  • Hero on the final platform

… and that’s pretty much it for the fight. Well except for the healer dispel.

Not what I got at all. This is why people tend not to ask for help on the forums.

Couple things people are often unaware of:

  1. Except on the first platform, the timer for new demolisher spawns doesn’t start until you hit the gripping terror. You always focus the first demolisher on each platform, but on the 2nd and 3rd platforms specifically you must be extra careful not to do any damage to the gripping until the demo is dead and the whole party is ready to begin dps.

  2. Demolishers eventually stop spawning. If you don’t have the dps to burn down the gripping between demo spawns, just keep the faith and continue diligently dpsing down the demos. After 3 or so they will stop spawning on that platform and you can finish the gripping in peace.

The textbook way to finish this fight as fast as possible:

On pull, tank and all dps immediately focus the demo. Dot and ranged cleave can do damage to the gripping. All dps switches to the gripping until the next demo spawns. When it’s up, if it is close enough to cleave, you can cleave it down with the gripping, and then ignore the next demo (tank still needs to tank it) and finish the gripping. If it’s not close enough to cleave, you need to full switch each time the demo spawns, until the gripping is low enough you’re confident you can kill it before an additional demo spawns.

Tank needs to be in position to engage demo on 2nd platform as soon as the gun is shot. All dps must exclusively target the demo - ANY dps to gripping will start the timer and ruin your attempt. Once demo is dead, all dps moves to grip, lust, and burn it down. Tank moves to demo when it spawns, dps stays on the grip. Finish demo when grip dies.

Same as 2nd, all dps focuses demo on 3rd platform. Be patient, it has a lot of health, but don’t use any cooldowns because as long as you don’t touch the gripping the timer has not started. Once it dies, everyone switches to the gripping and blows cds. When the next demo spawns, you generally need to kill it. If it’s close enough to cleave, continue to prioritize grip damage. Generally after this demo is dead, it will be time for the grip to die. Your tank will likely need to grab the next demo as you finish it, and then you can switch to it while waiting for the cannon to be repaired.

As I said though, if you need to play it safe, demos will eventually stop spawning. If you can’t make a dps check on the grip, just diligently kill demos and you will eventually defeat the boss as long as you don’t get two demos at once.

Great stuff. I frankly did not know about the timer mechanism until the tank gave good tips on it. This textbook strategy should be included in most “popular” dungeon guides online…

As a tank why would they go into this dungeon without knowing what they should be doing. Lots of resources on the internet, it really doesn’t need to come to the forum after 100 deaths.

In some earlier runs of that dungeon, we assigned 1 DPS to stick on the Gripping the whole time while the other 2 focused on the Demolishers. Especially in a melee heavy group 100% focusing demos can lead to more downtime than necessary.

It’s definitely one of the only fights with a built in DPS check like that though. If the DPS is too low you just outright won’t keep up on demolishers and you’ll die. And it’s worse on the last platform. Which is why people save Hero for it, but even then, iffy.

FWIW I know Earth Ele from a Shaman can pseudotank a demolisher to prevent the AoE crush. Not sure if Hunter/Lock pets work as well? Something to consider though since Earth Ele works. It can give the group some recovery time or if you’re almost done, time to just finish the fight instead of dying because you fell behind in the last 30 seconds or whatever.
