ok so farming sidereal essences the first week togc was out wasnt bad. pretty much everyone in the lfg was 5k+ gs and you could blow through the dungeons. but now everyones main and main alts are geared and dont need sidereal or badges anymore so farming badges and sidereals on your alts is a Huuuuuuuuuuge pain in the rear. i have finished the sidereal essence farm on 3 characters, and need zero badges on them. but i still have other toons that need badges and sidereals and i really dont want to pug with any more 3k gearscore pallies that dont know how to move out of glaciate.
make sidereal essences account wide so you can farm them on any toon. it would make the entire experience more enjoyable for everyone and would bring more geared people back to h++ to farm essences on their main for their alts.
(and make it retroactive for me personally k thx blizz lol)
The point of making an alt is to play the alt not play your main and get something you don’t know how to play to use in current content.
While yes many still don’t learn how to play at least grinds such as this get you to play the toon to some degree. There is a reason most things are not boa and that is exactly it. You are meant to earn what you have and each toon is made to be different. You are not mean to have everything on your alt just since you have a main.
On top your change only screws new players harder. As now people on geared mains are farming for alts so the avg gs of players you are able to get is higher. Gs requirements for groups are set based on what you can get not what is needed as such your change means lesser geared toons, esp new players would have a even worse time getting into groups.
It’s kinda funny the reason you want the chang, to not play with low gs players that don’t know how to play is the exact reason it is the way it is. To make those players including you play on those toons to learn them before they jump into current content. As such your change again would make that element worse not better as now we would have even more high gs players that can’t play to deal with, as they never played there alts just handed it gear.
He literally said that was among the reasons he wanted said change. Really reading is hard. You should really read before you try to claim another did not.
Never said nothing about wanting to carry them on his main he outright said he dosent want to play with them full stop.
He’s asking for this so there is more mains to not play with the low geared players but other high geared players ie exactly as I said making it even harder for new players to get groups due to more easy of access to high gs players.

I had been focused on two mains until last joyous journeys, when I decided to finish leveling a third character (an alt), and geared up for PvP and PvE.
I have a friend who plays (at least) one of every class above 2K in rated arenas, and idk how he manages his time to do so!
i used to meet a 5k gearscore that is doing less damage than a 4k ish, not knowing how to taunt, gs is doesn’t matter at all.

You are correct gs is not the end all be all of telling a players power level.
That being said is is a good indication of the expected power level they should be at. As such it remains the best way to at a glance judge a players power. There is no better way that dosent take more effort to get a read on a players expected power level.
No one in their right mind uses gs as a measure of a players power level it is used to see the expected power level of a player. As gs dose directly tie to how much power you have. It just not the only factor but a player that plays the same at 2k gs will still do more damage at 5k regardless of hey are using their full potential or not. While gearing errors can inflate gear score those players will have gearing errors at a lower gear score also so still remains true.
Only someone that dosent understand how the game works thinks gs dosent matter at all. Gs is one of the largest factors in player power.
Gas pedal only goes so far to the floor, pushing buttons harder does not increase dps either, Gs is like hp and is a metric for potential performance. just cause you drive a ferrari doesnt mean you will always beat the mustang. Especially if you double clutch and stall it out.
