This isnt towards the players mainly cause I dont have enough patience to deal with them, this post is for the developers. Your game is FAILING…HARD and instead of doing the correct thing and starting to fix things you break you add more onto it which makes this games giant pile of cow manure even larger to try and fix.
The first thing you guys can do is START MAKING PROMISES TO THE PLAYER BASE YOU INTEND TO KEEP!!! What do I mean by this? Take a look at Overwatch “2” and see what your steam score is and ask yourselves why. Its simple you didnt deliver what was promised and people are rightfully so dragging you under the bus.
The same goes in warcraft, the most iconic take was when Ion was asked about concerns facing the ret palsdin pvp talent tree and a lot of choices not making sense, the response was “dont worry, if things are faulty and janky we will come back and take another look.” The entire expansion went by and not one single change.
The same can be said now for the classes in DF having things in their kits that dont make sense or some having astronomical button bloat like with ret paladin. Monk also fits the category of having things that dont make sense, I believe its chi wave that barely does any damage and barely heals anyone but they still press it…why?,
Everyday you lose players to games like FF14 and its a very simple examination as to why, they clean their room and make things fun, enjoyable and every class is viable. Its basically a CONSTANT mists of pandaria when everyone was insane but balanced everything out and people miss that
Another thing you need to stop doing is responding to “overwhelming feedback about blah blah blah” when it comes to certain classes and if others are falling behind…buff them up. In 10.0.7 as a ret pally main i shouldnt have gone from having the time of my life to “just ok.” And thats one example, all because enough people collectively yacked on here.
These changes CAN be implimented and quality of life can be upheld and wow put back in peoples good graces as you once were, hell so many “wow killers” came out and nothing was able to knock you off that pedestal…the people doing that are yourselves
They have been making promises they keep, it’s why you have a full year roadmap up now.
There isn’t much here to address but that you don’t care for ret paladin button bloat. This is going to fix the game? And you want to buff the other characters not nerf them?
Your changes aren’t very comprehensive and won’t do much good to a game that’s one bad decision away from a review bomb like Overwatch 2.
The post is not for the developers. But I hope you feel better getting a couple items off your chest.
They don’t have a clue what they’re doing man. It’s been hit and miss with Blizzard for decades and will continue to be. Sometimes they have some really solid well received content and other times it’s okay or even terrible.
You’re mostly just dollar signs to them though. I expect to always be disappointed in WoW and it helps a lot especially with class design!
I used my main class as an example of its treatment. Still doesnt mean they approached it incorrectly. Why nerf ret when you can put in the work and effort to buff everyone else? Get off this mentality of “Nerfs are a good thing.”
Its a metaphor for making sure you dont cast judgement on another person for something you yourself have done or are currently doing a similar one is “those who dont have their houses in order should be careful how they go about organizing the world.”
Again missing the point, Im not saying they do. Overwatch 2 is getting decimated right now with negative review bombs on steam, so much so that in the entire steam library it is rated the #2 worst game on the entire platform. World of warcraft is following the same pattern
I don’t think anyone would have a clue in their position. They are the first MMO to ever be successful for this long and they are trying to figure it out as they go.
Other MMOs that have reached this age have pretty much given up on trying to be an actual competitive game and switched to entirely focusing on revenue or features that reduce the MMO aspects of the game.
And I definitely don’t agree with all of their decisions, but I try to keep my perspective realistic. WoW is an ancient game that is eventually going to end regardless of what they do.
This I think we can all agree with, and whilst many of us can see why they are nerfing the over performers, we know, you don’t want everyone OP and it’s easier to nerf one than buff the rest.
I just have a mind capable of basic critical thought.
If you buff every spec by 20%, because of an outlier…guess what?
Now you have to buff all dungeons, raids, etc increasing mob health. Basically a blanket nerf to every spec. Because you cant just buff everything. That will make content too trivial if every single time some singular spec gets too strong, everything else is buffed.
Now second. In order to give EVERY SINGLE spec a rework to keep up with ret pally, we’d still be going through it. You’d have a few done, and have over 1/2 the game of people playing useless specs at a huge disadvantage.
Unless you are saying they should go out and hire 200 more devs on a 3 month contract?
You didnt play mists of pandaria then so youre not clearly thinking critically. They did this exact thing and it was one of the best expansions outside of wrath of the lich king hands down. Recreating that mentality isnt hard to do. Just takes a little effort, something you gen Z kids lack in abundance.
I would much prefer to have people working to respond to tickets and reports than a robotic system that just slaps you with a suspension while some over worked dev reads the first 3 words in your appeal and copy pastes a response email
I mean if you have a giant ip and tons of lore with so many stories to tell it can’t be that hard. I think they’re just trying to get everyone to their endgame and current expansion faster which hurts the game. The endgame isn’t even that interesting atm.
My sweet summer child. I am fairly confident I have been playing MMORPGs longer than you. Its quite possible, though unlikely, you are one of the few that may have started an MMORPG before me. So at worst, we would be fairly even.
But this talking down because I disagree with you. Attempting to insult my age or something with no other evidence than…I disagree with you. Is a bit cute.
