Showerthought: Horde's had a villainous Warchief in 4/7 expansions

I was thinking back to how nice it was to have a Warchief that was not a genocidal orc/undead supremacist and realized this belatedly. The Horde has been without a sympathetic, well-intentioned Warchief for over half of the game’s life.

Ya we need Thrall back. And it blows that without Thrall the horde is a mess.

Eh, Garrosh wasn’t that bad in Cata. I liked him a lot back then. He had some scruples, cracked down on the Horde’s shadier elements, and was downright heroic in the one quest line most players associated him with (thanks Afrasiabi). Whether Garrosh or the Alliance started the conflict was also kept vague, so he had that going for him too before they came out years later and said yeah, no, it was him.

At this point I think it should be accepted that the Horde is the lawful evil faction of this game.

Which is fine. The Horde just needs to embrace it fully.

What a dizzying shift. It hopped directly across the spectrum from Chaotic Good to Lawful Evil with scant Lawful Good hangers-on.

You ever read “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?” page 20?

---------------------------------//----------------------------------

Varian watches Stonetalon Garrosh walk towards a door that read 'Bad writing: villain batting- KEEP OUT’ … “And by the time I realized where he was heading it was too late. As he walked into the blinding golden light he turned, and looked back over his shoulder. He smiled at me.”

“I never saw Stonetalon Garrosh again.”

War of Thorns kind of pushed Horde to Evil but saving the world from ghuun kind of brought them back to Lawful.
Saurfang didnt have a problem killing night elves. He just didnt want to burn a whole city to ashe.
Occupying and enslaving the inhabitants was fine with him though.

So its fair to say they are lawful but evil.

In a perfect world Cairne or Voljin wouldve been made WC off the bat in Cataclysm. Garrosh would replace Dranosh as the guy killed by the LK but instead be relegated to a mediocre quest NPC mob. Then we dont have to suffer through his childish conquests and tantrums and eventual leadup to WOD and Legion.

Why are you lying?

That would be Evil → Good, not Chaotic → Lawful. And it’s self-preservation so it could even be Chaotic Neutral.

I don’t think Sylvanas’ Horde is Lawful at all, really. The problem with it is that there is no moral code whatsoever. Sylvanas just does whatever she thinks will help her win. It’s more True Evil, because it’s not causing chaos and pain for the sake of chaos and thus isn’t Chaotic Evil.

Horde practices slavery. Didnt you know?

Could be Horde does at the end stand for what it is right when it comes to fighting bad guys but how they get there or when fighting the Alliance all their morals go right out the window sometimes.
I put Lawful because sometimes they seemed to have rules but its not very consistent admittedly.

Saurfang isn’t okay with enslaving the night elves.

What goalpost did I move? The Horde practices slavery.
Their whole plan was to hold the Night Elves captive so a war would never be waged.

Do you really not realize what that would mean? If they give up the Night Elves then the Alliance would have no reason to NOT go to war. So. The Horde has to keep the occupation permanent. Which means slavery. Which the Horde do a lot of.

He was perfectly happy to occupy the entire city and hold them all captives for perpetuity.
Besides he mentioned if Tyrande or Malfurion went back there they will be caught and executed which means other notable members could have also been executed.

Yeah… no. Saving the world after killing millions doesn’t make you good. No matter what you do, those dead people aren’t coming back.

Moreover, saving the world, you know the one you live on too which means that if it was destroyed you too would die. Doesn’t mean much at all.

The Horde could have joined Legion or other baddies but they dont.
Thats got to be worth something.
btw I never absolved them for the crap they do like Blizzard does.

Destroy the world? They can’t do that! If they destroy the world I can’t conquer it! - Its not exactly right, but that’s about how it comes off.

Yes.

NONE  OF  THIS  IS  SLAVERY

Horde Enslaves. Thats a fact.
Horde intends to forever hold Teldrassil as a hostage. Prevent them from leaving.
Horde will be enslaving Night Elves so they would would work and benefit the Horde in someway JUST LIKE THE ALLIANCE DID WITH THE ORCS because it would be unsustainable.
We are constantly told the Horde lacks resources and I doubt they can afford to feed the Night Elves and their occupying army. Whats more we already saw how Horde treats their captives in Darkshore.

So there is historical precedent.
What do you think would happen? Life goes on? People are free to leave or trade?
I very much doubt that.
As always in an occupied city people will be slaves to the occupiers.
There are different types of slavery than the American Slavery you may be familiar with.
