Shoutout to Mage devs & every other class team doing something good!

Like always during WoW xpacs, there’s tons of (usually justified) complaints/criticism. I know I’ve been going on a tear about locks. But I think it’s equally important to shout out teams that are really killing it and going above and beyond.

So let me give a huge thank you to whoever is currently helming Mages. I picked up Mage in Legion and they felt like second class citizens for a long time. But over just a short couple years it was nothing but up. To break down Mage through DF:

-Mage comes out with a class tree that embodies the idea of what class trees should be, and spec trees that are weak but on the right track.
-Flurry changes to Frost make the spec playable
-Class tree gets reshuffled to make more sense.
-Listening to feedback, Arcane finally gets away from Rune of Power and feels 100% better to play.
-Listening to feedback A SECOND TIME (unheard of!!) Frost is given a slew of single target options and more builds than just Frozen Orb/Ice Lance
-Frostfire hero talents virtually let you play two specs
-Sunfury hero talents finally give Fire Mages the “mwahahahaha” feel they always wanted
-Arcane gets another big change letting players get away from Radiant Spark

Without exaggeration, I think this is the gold standard for devs listening to feedback and communication with players. If every class dev team was as on top of it as Mages, I think WoW would scarcely have a complaint.

So mage dev(s), thank you so much, you make this game fun <3

What about you guys though?? What other class teams do you feel like killed it in DF or are in TWW? We gotta make sure to let people know when they do right by us too, so use this thread to hype them up!!

Don’t mind me. I’m just over here with all the other mage players patiently waiting for blizz to delete the gross ToM play style.

I’m over here trying to figure out why my Balance Druid will be summoning trees or why my Ele Shaman is so linked to a stupid ability from Shadowlands that doesn’t even make sense to have.

The dev working on Monk in TWW is doing a very good job so far. I can’t wait to play all 3 specs.

So, I am not the only one to notice this.

Nope! And I think there was a thread about it yesterday too.

Hrm my feedback on the two classes I’m play this Season:

Hunter - incredible how BM design has evolved so much so that the primary stat has evolved into Mastery when long ago Haste/Crit then Vers was the play. I significantly prefer the current playstyle and the absolutely nutty stacked damage on fat corner pulls we can do is insane. We are one of the classes that benefits most from the VDH meta because of their multiple AoE stuns (ours in binding shot needing mobs to travel a distance). Current design is mint, please give hunters in general a tiny bit more survivability for the love of healers in +7s and above.

Death Knight - Look at Unholy go! Have had a few runs where the mass zombie boys have absolutely run amoke. Blood DK has been pretty excellent to play, especially with a defensive trinket. Frost DK doesn’t appear to be performing well in terms of rankings but does have a playstyle that is super useful to parties (additional AoE lockdown). I think eventually DnD will be reworked likely into something like a ‘moveable cleave enabler’ and Death Knight will reach perfection then.

Umm I couldn’t disagree more, I think the mage specs are horrrendous. Sure if you are running around doing quests they are fine, but trying to min- max its like chewing razor blades. All 3 of them. Which distroys me because I love the class fantasy. I personally think the warlock and mage devs should trade.

I keep trying to play shaman but I just can’t. I’m a multispec player and so if I played shaman, I would play both enh and ele. Problem is that would mean I would need 4 trinkets as most trinkets do not have both int and agi. Some do. But most don’t.

I play Resto and Ele. I do similar with Druid, Resto and Balance. So it’s much easier for me.

For one - I would still argue that Mage historically has been not just bad, but really really bad. Like I said I’m new-ish to Mage, but man in BfA and SL Frost’s whole gameplay was praying for a Flurry proc. All of DF I was having a blast in Arena, landing glacial spikes and on-demand burst has been nice. So maybe more of a celebration of how far we’ve come is a better way to put it.

For two - you absolutely do not want this warlock devs lmao. I don’t want to rant here, but TWW has already taken away Avatar from Destro and demonic cores from Demo (meaning you won’t really be summoning anymore) it’s looking bad man

Amusing that your profile is a shaman with this thread title.

Shamans have been asking for help since wod.

Lock & Shaman are my mains. All I do is complain lmao this thread is for my conscious to offset it.

Really hyped for my Primordial Wave tree tho :upside_down_face:

I’d give a shoutout to Hunter devs but there’s no one to receive it.

Dunno where you see so big improvements for frost.

Atm 1 Hero Tree seems to go in the direction of the old boring Shadowlands Deathborn gameplay aka spamming FB and flurry= thats super boring.

The other Hero Tree is super lazy and not fun for frost at all. Only boring procs.

Where are rly innovating elements of gameplay and spells?
Why do you not bring back the perma pet and make some adjustments so we REALLY see a a new gameplay style instead of recooking very old stuff again again and again?!

The mage Dev seems to be super lazy and the person who did the Spellslinger Hero Tree should burn it in a fire and redo it comepletly! Rarely saw such a piece of boring nonsense.

Yes they try to make Arcane and Fire more fun but Frost is ATM in the alpha in a really boring and broken stat. FFB not working with fractured frost for example and the other things i complained about.

Hopefully we see some REAL improvements for Frost. Otherwise it will be boring again as atm (only glacial= yawn).

What is ‘ToM’?

Touch of the Magi. That stupid dot that does like 99% of Arcane’s damage.

Shaman is Fun and good, i mean, it’s Ok overall, thumbs up for its Devs.

The “only” criticism i have with Shaman class is its Survivability. I mean the defensive abilities and movement skills, which could be better. Also how susceptible he is to CCs (especially Enhancement) in PvP.

(And the overall Fantasy behind the class Lore vs Gameplay)

Okay, my bad, I had that in the multiple-mobs section.

Switched it out and it seemed to work… inconsistently. Like one mob died in one hit, another took a normal three (so I am still kiting and spamming arcane barrage) and the ettin (sp?) I fought twice didn’t seem to take any significant damage with it applied either time.

Is that how it is suppose to work or am I misreading the situation or do I need to go back to the drawing board?

Again.

Because I keep trying but just cannot make this character fun to play. If she wasn’t a fave of mine, she would have been deleted four years ago.

Eh… ever since Arcane went on mana conservation, it stopped becoming fun. The rotation became pretty flat. I started playing Cata and am leveling a mage, the old mage was actually more fun. To me, mage as a class is pretty boring in WoW. Considering everything magic is under the mage’s spellwing, we can only do Frost, Fire and Arcane? I’ve main a mage for several xpacs, but in Dragonflight, I’m so bored of being mage, I’ve actually gone into play a monk and priest, which I have come to enjoy more.
