Not real life racism but between the different races.
Watching the weird racially charged quest line got me thinking. Isn’t it kind of weird how orcs are not treated with extreme suspicion outside of the horde?
They constantly turn to dark powers from fel, void, and sha whenever the opportunity arises. I don’t think lore wise there has been a stretch of ten years where some version of a rampaging orc horde hasn’t existed.
I understand the story has the factions allied with each other but should they really be this comfortable with each other?
In game its been only a few decades since orcs paved a road of bones and burned souls for the express reason to kill more people they never knew and never wronged them.
If we are touching on racial issues shouldn’t these come up more often?
Yes, but they are trying to “modernize” all gaming with “modern” views. There’s presentism in WoW, and any/all acts and deeds of previous characters that don’t fit into a narrow G-Rated woke theme get retconned or replaced.
There absolutely should be loads of hate and racism in WoW. The Orcs were a rampaging, murderous alien race from a magical dark portal that destroyed entire kingdoms. Thousands of humans were brutally snuffed out, but now everyone just wants to be friends and have trust? For thousands of years Trolls and Elves fought and hated each other, but now we’re supposed to be like, “we are not our past”, like we’re some kind of newly single middle-aged mom sipping wine from a box…
Not long before the C’thulus it was the orcs trying to sacrifice your sister in a ritual to summon demons. Maybe soon we’ll be deciding it’s weird to be upset that a C’thulu is fighting by your side when it’s some new, greater threat that conveniently makes everyone forget about their independent ambitions and interests?
Exactly, like how alleria was disowned and banished from silvermoon much like umbric and his blood elf faction. They dabbled with the void and anduin offered them open arms. The racism card doesnt hold up anymore in WoW.
You don’t see orcs visiting Stormwind or Ironforge. Although we have peace and cross faction in the current campaigns it doesn’t reflect everywhere in Azeroth.
