Shouldn't the Orcs be more advanced by now?

We need a throwback to Warcraft 2 and 3 for orc Aesthetics.

Also, I suspects it’s largely due to blizzard wanting to maintain flavour. By rights, in modern era of Azeroth, no human soldier would not be trained and equipped with a firearm. Why would you fight a 7 foot tall hulking green Goliath with a sword when you can shoot them from a comfortable distance with a gun? Why would Tauren not be equipped with Gattling Cannons mowing down alliance Footmen left and right? The only thing that trumps engineering in wow is magic, and just barely in many cases

Why play fantasy at all and not Call of Duty?

Considering that they were a technologically neolithic people in Rise of the Horde, and now they have a firm grasp of metal working, ship building, fire arms, and any number of technologies and conscepts that were all introduced to them within living memory, I’d say they’re doing pretty dang well.

Durotar is still a bad land. Can’t do jack without resources supplies.

In the coolest part of the Orc heritage quest we’re shown they hunt down predators naked in Durotar just to show their strength. Because that’s metal af and kinda sexy which is the Orc way!

We see in BFA they do produce modern armor. There’s no reason to suggest the Season 1 PvP armor is lesser than the Alliance one they both cover everything though the Horde’s has more spikes.

But they’re badass barbarians. They’d rather wrestle their prey to death, replete with armbars and elbow drops. They don’t need no stinking armor. You only wear that when you’re fighting people who aren’t bold enough to wrestle you naked to the death.

The Tauren have automatic mills powered by wind, which is presumably channeled by a shaman. Elevator etc. They’re pretty next level, it’s just the aesthetic.

The next warchief should be totally obsessed with ‘modernization’ and start turning Org corporate. By the time the guards are all wearing business suits I bet the players will be relieved their Warchief is the new raid boss :smirk:

Did you miss Warlords of Draenor? They were called the Iron Horde due to Garrosh bringing modern horde tech 35 years back and giving them an edge before they had one.

Thrall specifically told Gazlowe, both times when the goblins built Orgimmar, to not make it too advance. He wants to atone for what the orcs did and leaving in a more rough way is that atonement.

They’re still technologically equal to the alliance, Thrall just specifically said don’t make it too comfortable. The Goblins and Elves though live better than what Ogrimmar has. That is why the goblins made their own slum like city in Azshara and now we will see a bigger version in the undermine.
