You queue into a losing BG. Let’s say The Battle of Gilneas and you’re already 400 points behind, opposing team has a strong hold on 2 points.
Your options are either to lose or leave and be hit with a 15minute deserters.
Why does Blizzard think this is good for anyone? You should incentivize players to play in this scenario. And you can tell me this is a position where you can come back from and I’d agree but in the case of your entire team being dead and outnumbered… why should we be forced to play this? Why punish me for another person’s mistake?
I don’t mind waiting 1~2 minutes for an inevitable loss but it’s the slow but guaranteed loss that is a problem. If I queue into mid-game and I’m hit with this scenario it is easily the worst part of WoW PvP.
A couple ideas to alleviate this problem could be: Rewards for players specifically queuing into a losing mid-play BG, and even greater potential reward if you win. Or an even lesser deserters penalty for those who leave in this condition.
There’s a difference between comeback potential and an utterly impossible game. In fact, there are times I’ve queued into a game where it’s quite literally impossible to win, but in those I will often stay until the end because it’s easier.
This is the stupidest argument I’ve ever heard to this problem good job.
That isn’t what I said nor is it what I am attempting to do. It’s about entering a battle ground mid-loss. I do not mind playing a loss from start to finish. Please read the OP.
Just to re-iterate the problem is NOT losing in PvP. I fully expect to lose… But when you enter a battleground that is already in the process of losing, you are demoralized and you were in no part responsible for the losing state of the game, so the deserter penalty should at least be more lenient.
I think the problem is that the goal of the match-making process is to get people into BG’s as quickly as possible. If they put more effort into the match-maker balancing the teams in terms of number of healers, ilevel, and honor level, you would see longer queue times initially, but in the long run it would improve the experience and increase participation.
So when you enter that game and it feels like a guaranteed loss that’s not your fault, you feel like you should be able to freely leave and look for a new game. But the people who were there at the start, even if there’s only a few left and they were really trying and the loss also maybe isn’t their fault; they should be stuck while other people keep joining and dropping freely?
