Eh, been there, done that. Plenty of that stuff in Ahn Qiraj, Northrend and the N’zoth invasions.
I barely seen any of that but even so an updated version of it. But you understand what I mean
You lost me here.
Or the creepy dark void and the the voices in the dark making people go mad. I just want something scary or twisted. It’ll help with being immersive and entertaining
I don’t know if you were there for the BfA N’zoth patch, but if you werent:
If you do the BfA questlines to unlock N’zoth invasions in Uldum and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, you will have (sometimes), an Aqir invasion in Uldum, where the bug monsters attack.
They will kill humans and lay eggs on them. That means you will have to set fire to the ones that are still laying on the ground, and kill the ones that turned into bug-controlled zombies.
It’s all fairly recent. BfA stuff.
So I’m not allowed to have a culture because I was born with the same skin color or background as people who colonized?
That’s nothing of what I said.
Of course you have a culture. That has nothing to do with your skin color.
But, when talking specifically about the parts that came from europe through colonialism, that culture was spread to the whole world. It’s not unique to you.
To claim “cultural appropriation” against people who had that culture forced upon them is like shooting someone with a gun and then complaining that they stole your bullets lol
If you want something unique to you, you should look for local legends that weren’t spread to the world through colonialism.
Like the Mothman of West Virginia.
Oh no not cultural appropriation. Whatever will we do.
Good grief
Skinwalker is such a general thing at this point that I don’t particularly think it matters anymore. Almost no one sees “Skinwalker” and thinks “Native American Culture”. That particular cat is already out of the bag and has been for several decades.
That said, there’s no need to call it a Skinwalker either. Can be anything.
And WoW doesn’t really fit with Horror anyway. The art style just doesn’t cut it, the typical zone background music wouldn’t cut it, and a very likely lack of voice acting wouldn’t cut it.
Because the person I was responding to was saying they shouldn’t use the idea because it treads on the Native Americans.
The whole point was about not using Native American culture so pointing out that it isn’t only Native American culture is entirely part of the conversation
Drustvar was pretty awesome at least
In a weird way, aren’t Druids skinwalkers?
Is still staring at you
Til the Navajo spoke english.
And somehow they have monopoly on shapeshifters.
They don’t.
Shapeshifters are fair game. If you want to add more Druids to WoW, be my guest.
Or Mimics, that could be fun.
But Skinwalkers are part of Navajo mythology, and that should be respected.
Hey man, I’m just here to haunt OP forever… Is still just a talking deer staring at Cerkov in the background
I imagine some horror themes should pop up during midnight. more cosmic horror but maybe if they could summon all their creativity, they could have a quest line with a slasher kind of villain.
You know what’s more offensive than Skinwalkers a bunch of gaming nerds telling people how to feel about said thing.
It’s a fine line between the representation that everyone demands and the appropriation that everyone rejects, isn’t it?
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
But the concepts of priest, shaman, monk, and warlock don’t invite similar controversy? Nearly all of wow borrows from cultures/religions. I’m unclear how skinwalkers would be different.
Fair enough. lol.
