It’s no secret that demon hunter is the class for beginner players. It’s easy to cap, has very few buttons, and is extremely forgiving to the new player mongo playstyle with it’s strong self healing. It also has a fantasy that appeals to teens and younger children with it’s fantastical weapons and edgy “I’m a cool demon dude” storyline.
But I’m wondering, now that demon hunter has become such an overplayed class if that was a mistake. Continually having to play with and fight against one class is boring, and demon hunters are exceptionally boring to fight again in pvp. I’m wondering if it shouldn’t just be heavily nerfed into the ground so that it no longer appeals to new players so that people will choose higher skill classes?

The thing with Demon Hunters is that is has a low skill cap but an extremely high skill ceiling. Resource management is surprisingly hard to deal with, especially with the possibility of overcapping.
Does it need nerfs? Absolutely. We are getting that in SL. Should it keep its noob-friendly skill floor? Absolutely.
A good example is how in AWC, there weren’t many DHs. It’s not the Demon Hunter’s fault. It’s the wide skill range.

I am 37 years old and love playing my demon hunter. I really don’t like the edgy emo vibe and would prefer a more orcish aggression “lets murder all demons for enslaving us” type of vibe but I play it specially because of the self healing and the zippy play style.
I would really like to play my warrior again but without 3 stacks of heroic leap they feel extreamly sluggish. I don’t think demon hunters should be nerfed at all.

Did we honest to God need a 100th topic whining about Demon Hunters? This is getting really old, really fast.

Having classes with different skill floors and ceilings is good, it lets people decide just how much work they want to invest.
DH are a case where the floor maybe a tad too low but as mentioned that’s being adjusted.
I agree. Buff DH. In fact, make more classes like DH. It’s pretty popular. People seem to love it. Toolkits of a lot of buttons feeling meaningful for classes rather than a lot of hollow buttons.

To each their own, but I found them to be a bit boring with no real challenge. But if it helps bring in a new player base Id just keep it the same.
Vengeance is more fun then Havoc. I’ll tell you that much.
The only fun I have with Havoc is having a super long Demon Form.
Dunno if any of the BFA stuffs extends Demon form any but baseline stuff if you line up your Eye beams you get 46 seconds of Demon ham.
Havoc would be more engaging if it had more then 3 or 4 buttons to press.

wow is as beginner-friendly as it gets. The biggest limiting factor for most people is not skill but rather the time investment required (this is really apparent in classic). I don’t really think its a DH problem.
I mean literally high level players have no issue main swapping.
Prolly popular because its so easy to level one. Its the only reason why i have one, it was so close to max level anyway so was like why not make one. And because of that same logic, a lot of people have exposure to it.
I’d personally be fine if DH had at least even 1-2 more button to press. Then it would feel about as much as fury warrior to an extent.
I don’t fully agree with vengeance being more fun personally due to the sigils feel rather mixed and also slow. I think Vengeance needs some help as well going into SL, for their talents and abilities.
Please enlighten me as to which Classes need 7 buttons to perform their rotation.
Fury, havoc, beast master and blood DK are my top specs… sense a theme here?
I HATE the slot machine paladin play style or the lets ramp up damage over time playstyle of affliction or the dance dance revolution windwalker press the right button rotation.
I want to focus on what is happening in a fight and what everyone else is doing not only focus on my rotation. Thats the missing element of complicated vs non-complicated specs. One lets you enjoy the game outside of your character and take in what is going on more broadly, one is a tunnel vision on your character.
Mmhmm and that’s fine to have that preference, I just believe that classes that are more complex should have a bigger payoff then the non-complicated ones which atm isn’t a thing.
Feral needs to work twice as hard to just do “decent” damage compared to a class like like BM:
