If you’re ina guild, should your warlocks summon?
Umm yes? I wouldn’t expect them to like summon the whole raid or anything because people are lazy. But a few stragglers etc… for sure.
Should classes use their class utility to benefit their guild members? Depends on the context, I suppose, but if it benefits the guilds activities that you’re participating in, then yeah.
Lets say 95% of the raid is at Ony, but a couple people were in IF due to enchanting/letting dog out — Should the warlocks summon?
My personal opinion on the matter is it’s okay as long as the people do not make it a habit. It is a peeve of mine, and others that when a Raid has been scheduled in advance, and happens on the same day/time every single week, there should be no reason to be required to be summoned every damn time. That the rest of the people knew where to be, and what time to be there. It’s rude to never plan ahead, and expect others to make up for that persons lack of planning ahead.
If the person is a habitual “need summon” person as they prefered to muck around, then that person should not be eligible for the summon and they will just have to miss some boss loot & attendance points as applicable.
EDIT: Became an issue on the first progression BWL week as trash pulls are low there for souls, so even having around 30 souls prior they are slowly all used up, and when someone wants to dick around an hearth back to kargath instead of taking the boss wipe with the rest of us and wanted a summon back I almost flipped my lid.
Within reason yes.
As a guild lock i typically will burn 5 mins of my buffs to get summons done. BUT - if you are not ready for summons you are screwed. We have to maintain our buffs too.
Or my least favorite kind of person the person who doesn’t walk with everyone else to preserve world buffs and asks for a summon because they’re scared they’ll get ganked I will never summon those kind of people
raid members should do what raid leader says
Yes and no.
TL:DR
Summon for reason, yes.
Summon cause lazy, no.
Are the warlocks getting prio on ony bags, or is the guild crafting the big soul shard bags for them? Then yes without question.
If not, then it depends on the situation. If it’s something like a world boss where you need to act fast, then yes. If its standard raid night and someone is just late for a good reason, then yeah. It gets the raid going faster.
If it’s someone who is habitually late for no reason, and there is no repercussion to it? Heck no. You need to find another guild at that point. Summon is a great tool, but people just being stragglers constantly is disrespectful of the entire raid that shows up on time. It puts your raid at risk of losing buffs to summon. It spends extra time when they should have been moving out with the raid for safety for pvp reasons and if your guild leadership isn’t cracking down on it, then you need a new one.
Yes. Unfortunately that is one of the utilities that warlocks bring to a raid. If people are constantly needing summoned then I would probably reach out to an officer and let them make the decision if future summons for that player are warranted or if the are abusing the summons.
My guild drama alert just went off, short answer is yes they should do whatever it is they can to help a guild out. If however they are summoning without a returned favor such as sharing loot and content then no I would look for a friendlier guild
You would be surprised… I literally had my raid leader say… out loud… in our last raid… that hunters were no longer allowed to FD during a wipe…
I laughed so hard I almost pooped my pants… then completely ignored him like the moron he was.
As a warlock it is my obligation to drag cleaving trash over you during a wipe and hellfire so that I dont get a repair bill while you die.
Should mages portal?
Of course they should summon. It is a spell they cast. This whole “should I use my abilities to help others” question is weird. You should have all your reagents and be ready to use your abilities when needed. World buffs, flasks, pots are all optional bonuses, not using your abilities because you don’t feel like it is ridiculous. Shamans should be ready to self res, druids battle res, hunters should have arrows and people should have the things they need for group buffs. Do your job.
Warlocks should summon for emergencies, not for convenience. If your guild is asking your warlock to summon people at the start of scheduled raid time you are doing it wrong.
What else would they use the ability for? They can’t use it on themselves…well I guess they can, but they need a group anyway.
I’m not sure by your post if we are on the same side of the argument here. Of course locks should summon people when the need arises, but if they summon every lazy slob who didn’t want to jump on a flight path then they will be unable to “do their job” because pets, healthstones and depending on spec abilities require shards.
I, a hunter, use a quiver as expected. A warlock should have a solid shard bag. If you have a single warlock no the expectation is not that they summon 37 people. If you are saying that summoning 5-10 people is too much to ask then I think that is ridiculous. Just get it done and get in the raid, have shards ready. Keep the bag full. Who cares why they need a summon. It is just like ressing people who don’t release. There are times where everyone should release due to respawns or pats but otherwise just get in there and res people. I sympathize with the plight of people who are supports or utility but not to the degree where they refuse to be out of spite.
You’ll care after the first time you and a few other zone out to summon and immediately lose your buffs to opposing faction.
This isnt about the warlock or shards themselves. This is about appropriate behavior. Show up to raid on time and move out with the group. It’s for everyone’s safety, and its disrespectful to everyone else to be lazy and not show up.
If there is a reason, I’ll happily summon. If it’s just laziness? Nope.
