Im glad you brought this up, because i have probably lost hundreds to the void because im always capped.
I just donât know what valor stones bring to the table and why we need two different currencies
I know this is a weird concept, but pacing is in fact a thing, so slowing people down is the literal goal of the system.
mind you, crests also fulfill this purpose, but they likely wanted to make valorstones capped at 2k so people wouldnât just completely trivialize them by farming a billion then not having to actually farm them when new stuff comes out
Iâm not opposed to there being some level of cap, but right now Iâm ping-ponging between being out of valor and maxed on valor. The current cap is WAY too low.
2k cap would be fine if acquisition were buffed or costs were tweaked + secondary spending sources existed, maybe gathering materials or smth. let people who run tons of mythic pay off repairs and flasks with em?
Itâs a bit of a weird spot to be in at the moment. Crest capped on two characters so valorstones earned are just building up.
I should take this as a sign Iâve been too sweaty n like work on other TWW achievements but I do wish theyâd just remove both crest/valor caps. Make the game fun to play without gating!
Crests do this, as you said. The thing about valor, is that it costs a ton of valor even when all you are doing is upgrading an alternate item to an ilevel of an item that you already had, even with the âdiscountâ. That has nothing to do with âpacingâ.
My feeling is that yes. But they canât remove the current low cap, because that would mean people progressing normally. Right now devs are far behind because theyâre still working on fixing bugs when they should have been working on season 2.
i mean, crests do this for upgrading as many pieces as is allowed with the current hard cap, Valorstones act as a soft cap to upgrades, get a new piece of gear in the same track with better stats? you gotta farm a bit to upgrade it despite already having one at that ilvl
you can disagree that itâs a good system, but it is a system working as itâs intended tbh, personally iâm of the opinion it just needs uses, let people farm them infinitely for a purpose, instead of just being a currency that exists to then be irrelevant once someone collects 10k in season 1 and never cares about em til next expansion.
Mats, Sockets (like the vault ones) or other useful goodies to spend excess ones so the cap doesnât actually ever come into play. it solves the actual issue of the cap (I have no gear to upgrade, any stones past this are wasted) while keeping the stated goal of them even existing in place.
I just think the cap is too low, if we need these valor stones. When you blow 500 on an upgrade, that is a good chunk. Another option is to lower the costs relative to the cap.
lower costs relative to cap, a higher (But still existant) cap, increased acquisition (this means you still gotta farm something inbetween chunks of upgrades and might not satisfy you, so weâll leave this as a third option.
indeed. I would say most people question if it is necessary at all. But in my case, I find the rapid swings to be bad - even if tiny upgrades are really cheap.
They should just be removed they serve zero purpose with upgrades requiring crests.
There shouldnât be a cap imo. Just purge valor stones at the end of every season so itâs not an issue of people stockpiling stones or get rid of valor stones all together.
all of these resources should be fully account wide and uncapped. the gear track is its own bottle neck and doesnât need an external governor. let us farm what we want.
Canât spend them if you donât have enough Crest which you get very little of
yea there should not be any caps on these currencies.
at most there should only be caps on what we can use per week
it is really annoying hitting the cap and having everything upgraded as far as your crest caps will allow and then attain an additional 2-4-6k valorstones throughout the week and they are all just wasted because you are capped. then 7-8 weeks later when you need them they are impossible to get because all the meaningless things you do to attain them you are bored with and no longer do.

Yep. Old WoW you looted gear in dungeons/raids. Then you enchanted it.
If you wanted to do harder content you had to depend on your skill as a gamer.
Now? You literally just grind for crests/stones and upgrade your gear until you can overpower content.
Absolutely garbage way to maintain players. They finally get geared up and BAM, seasons over time for new gear you have to upgrade all over again.
Constantly at cap on my main and needing them on my alts and unable to get enough on the altsâŚhow easily this problem COULD be solved if they would let you shift them to warband.
