It used to be 10-person back in the day. They could easily tune it to be that way again, maybe fix a few things. Really you could redo all of Blackrock Spire into a kara sized dungeon. That would whip
Technically it is and always has been a raid… It use to be a 15 players raid, and Stratholm and Scholomance were 10 players raids. The pre-1.3 versions of These dungeons were kinda insane at that gear level of the time; this is pre class buffs and pre gear buffs.
Even Black Rock Depths was a raid back then too… The first true “5 players” dungeon was Diremaul in patch 1.3, and since then they progressively nerfed the dungeons directly but removing like 50% of the mobs, and cutting their damage and ability use and nerfing the abilities of the mobs by massive amounts. Then when you also factor in that we now straight out of the gate have far better gear and way stronger classes, like classes that are near 2X more powerful the content just ended up being done by 5 players post 1.3 because of all the buffs to classes and nerfs to the content. These buffs and nerfs did not take place in a single patch but over time.
Sorry for the really long winded and badly written response, just wanted to give you some history on that.
Any way, restoring them to a more LEGIT raid format would be awesome, perhaps make them 20 players raids?? Buff the loots to 20 players levels?? Heck buff the loot to the same level as MC?
you only need to put a heart, but if you know a way to update the character in the forums so its representative of the actual character in game I would be REAL interested in that.
Pre-nerf Scholo gave me PTSD to heal… Even the caster mobs melee could clip 30% of the health of a plate class who’s not using shield block per melee swing. CC was near 100% required, and the mobs had some kinda insane abilities. Its fun today to make fun of how easy this version of wow is, but this is not even remotely the same game as early vanilla; this is about as related to “vanilla” near launch as this is to Wrath now; but sounds like you’re well aware. That’s back when you had hunters Trapping and pulling and mages sheeping and rogues sapping / blinding literally everything because the mobs were so unreasonably deadly that a mistake a near certain wipe.
Duuuuude you remember… that shizzy was pure ruthless hell… IMO those raids were like 3X harder than Naxx; assuming you had the of that time gear and of that time classes; pre 1.3 everything. I don’t think the average player now days would tolerate that difficulty level at all.
Yeah. there’s no way anyone is going spend 2 and half hours to clear a single instance these days. The amount of trash in strath was ridiculous too. Packs didn’t just exist by the walls but all along the middle of the road. Now that I think about it, it was pretty stupid that they were so tightly bunched up you couldn’t tell which groups were leashed and which weren’t.
Gaming was just different back then. Good times good times.
A full BRD clear in a group that’s mid 50’s or so takes a good two and a half to three hours. It’s also super fun and I will happily do it. I might just be crazy though
I actually think there is a market for dungeons designed that way and intended to be taken slow. Sadly, I think it’s kinda niche.
