Should trinkets be just trinkets?

What I mean by this is that trinkets should stop having effects on them and just let them be a normal piece of gear that you earn and or sell or destroy at your whim.

But Trinkets always had effects as far I remember . Stat stick like Mop remix ones are just not F…u…n

So then why have them at all?
Would they not just be 2 additional ring slots that can’t be enchanted?

And Trinkets are half the fun. All the fun memories I have of WoW actually revolve around trinkets.

Prophecy of Fear
Draught of Souls
Devilsaur Shock-Baton
Purified Bindings of Immerseus (it was fun with snap-shotting existing in MoP)

Hell even from DF the only piece of gear I’ll likely remember in a few years is Nymue’s Unraveling Spindle

You can do all those things now.

Nah. Trinkets having effects is part of what makes them interesting. Regular armor slots are just numbers on a slider. Trinkets can be that, but they can also be unique, and that’s cool.

That said, I don’t think certain trinkets should be blatantly overtuned to make us farm for them, and it’s incredibly obvious that Blizzard does this intentionally, repeatedly. It’s okay if an interesting effect isn’t propped up by being 40% stronger than the next best trinket for no reason.

if trinkets got devolved into stat sticks we clip to our belts…they’d lose their value in my eyes. I mean most the time I don’t care for what stat it grants me I’m after the special power it grants…if it grants me zero powers then I’ll leave it where I find it.

I had a trinket in BfA that dropped an anchor on your enemy’s head when it procced. I loved that thing.

No, that would be boring.

They could be if gems were like they are in Remix. I wish they would male jewelcrafting gems like the remix ones.

I like my relic slot back.

Speaking for myself, most trinket choices end up leaning towards effects instead of stats. You can get effects that compliment your build better than a flat stat gain. I do have 1 toon that uses a base trinket just to hit a specific amount of haste I wasnt able to get else where. But thats the one outlier.

I like the effects, they add alot more to them than just another stat stick.

Belor’relos, the trinket healers were chasing to get from the Int DPS to suicide bomb themselves into things for more damage.
Manic Grieftorch so you can tell your friends to kill themselves for the parse.
Fyrakk’s Tainted Rageheart is going to be an unpleasant memory considering it was tank-role only but DPS needed it for survival in higher keys.

Meanwhile the only trinkets that really stick in my memory were Cunning of the Cruel because shadowbolt volley was cool and Unerring Vision of Lei Shen because Affliction + that trinket + Soulburn:Soulswap when DoTs snapshotted was silly-busted on the Timeless Isle WPvP scene.

Remember when guns & bows were used by Warriors & Rogues as pure stat sticks?

And then they made Relics and such for other classes.

Yes, that was thrilling, surely.

No. I want trinkets to become even more interesting.

I love the Mechagon trinket with the slots for different abilities.

No kidding.

One of the things they’re doing is making DPS trinkets less effective for tanks.

Because they don’t like tanks using DPS trinkets.

Hey, Blizz! Here’s an idea! How about you MAKE TANKING TRINKETS THAT DON’T SUCK.

Trinkets should only be effects and shouldn’t have any stats tied to them

I like the Hakkar trinket and the motorbike you can blow up on your target, the nerub burrow trinket is awesome too! Keep trinkets cool!

I loved the SL one that made the giant wombats rocket into an enemy.

No, what’s the point in every gear being just a stat gear. Something’s gotta give and trinkets are giving Something different.

I think WoW gearing would be a lot more boring if every trinket was just a stat stick.
