Should trials get loot ? What’s your thought on the matter?

So some guilds have a strictly no loot for trial policy for the first 2-3 weeks when they are being evaluated.

This means if tier drops, it goes to core raiders even if it was a 5th piece.

Rationale behind these is there are a lot of “trials” who abuse guilds by applying with no intention of sticking around. Once they get loot they leave.

If it’s a mythic guild, then gearing up your most valuable assets quickly is important. I personally wouldn’t adhere to it but this loot system isn’t new. We’ve returned to group loot from a long hiatus and now the old systems are returning.

Loot kings, loot council, etc. Protecting your loot for your raiders is definitely a drama-fest however. But major mythic guilds operate in unique ways. So, if you’re willing to trial with them for a long term place, guess you’re stuck missing your pieces.

If it goes past a two week trial you are being used. Abandon ship.

Yes, trials should get loot. Firstly, I hate the term trial. We call our new people initiates. Because we aren’t going to kick them if they don’t stack up. Second, what better way to keep people than to show we value them than giving them equal opportunity for loot? Why would they want to even do raids they get guaranteed no loot for?

Retail has enough non-raid sources of end game loot that I don’t really think that it’s a problem there, especially when you factor in things like the infusion components and primal chaos that everyone gets no matter what.

This sounds to me like ragemode started playing classic in preparation for ulduar, and is distorting how things work there. The rules I see more often is that trials can only get uncontested loot.

Yes. Anyone in for a boss should have equal chance at loot. That’s why I loved Personal Loot. You bring them in, you “risked” them getting loot. It was fair and balanced. Don’t want to share with outsiders? Don’t invite them. Pretty simple really

If it’s a mythic guild, so be it…

But if it’s a heroic or normal guild they can go pound sand and I would find a different guild…

I mean, for one thing, I’d only trial people on content we have on farm status. Purely just to see how they operate and their attitude towards gear.

Trials should absolutely be getting gear, but they shouldn’t be getting brought on content where it is important that people who show up get rewarded for it. If it’s not a choice I’d relay what the actual loot priorities are in advance just to see how they react.

Guild does loot how guild does loot.

If the trial doesn’t agree they say, “I don’t agree” and go elsewhere. The trial not getting pieces has been around for quite some time and is very common.

Whoever is in for difficult content gets loot prio.

Whoever isn’t or has a higher chance of not being in gets lesser prio.

Some trials are more valuable to prog than long term raiders, some aren’t.

If you don’t like a guild’s loot rules, don’t join.

It’s horrible for a guild that spends countless hours organizing strategy, recruiting, funding consumables, etc to have loot yoinked by a temporary player/trial that leaves after a couple weeks or ends up not being good enough.

Players that have never organized a guild think just showing up to raid should give them equal priority but that ignores all the effort it takes to run a guild.

The guilds almost always know what’s going to result in more success. They should be able to decide exactly where the loot goes.

Don’t like it? Go start your own guild and see how hard it is lol

Trials tend to be spoonfed farm boss gear so the entire premise is rediculous.

If they are upset that they came in for the last 20 pulls of a 150 pull boss and weren’t given a BiS trinket or weapon then they aren’t a good fit for the team anyway.

Lol… People really join guild and wait 2-3 weeks to get loot? My god… I would rather do LFR than have to be a beta in those guilds.

I mean generally if there’s one trial raider and an entire guild, the person would get something if no one needed it. That’s extremely fair. If they are a bit undergeared then take that into account given they aren’t getting loot…but I think that’s what someone would expect. Especially if you are still progressing.

it goes both ways.

If you’re a trial and they give u some great loot and dip

But… you helped kill the boss, also how are they gonna stop you from rolling?
