Should they remove LFR timegating?

Hello, LFR casual here. Not entirely by choice, if I had the time, I’d absolutely do Normal and maybe try for Heroic sometimes, but alas, here we are. It’s not all bad, though. I think LFR does get a bad rap in the community, it’s really not as bad as some people say (most of the time).

One thing I would like to see, though, is the removal of the two week gap between each wing. For people like me who want to experience the story and cinematics in game, it makes it really hard having to avoid spoilers for 2+ months, as well as having raid quests just sit in your quest log collecting dust until the final wing unlocks.

What I propose is this: still have LFR difficulty come out the week after N/H with Mythic difficulty, same as now, but release all wings at once. To balance this out, however, have each wing be locked until the previous one is completed. That way you won’t have people just skip right to the final raid boss and leave the first few wings completely empty. You have to run all the bosses in a more or less set order on the other difficulties, so why not make this one the same?

Having the wings still be separate, and having the overall difficulty lowered, makes it easy for someone like me to do bits of a raid at a time, rather than all at once, but I really would not like to wait until 2 months later to complete the raid.

What are your thoughts?

yeah they should release whole LFR raid when RWF is over , who cares .

I don’t understand why Blizzard do this

I think some timegating is ok to have. It gives more time for normal+ raiders to properly discover and work on clearing the raid without LFR overshadowing it.

But they just need to shorten it. Two weeks is so long, I think it can be lowered to one week between each wing.

The time-gating is silly IMO but I guess it’s more aimed to slow gear progression and creep for those raiding normal, heroic in that time period.

No, to balance it out you need to remove the determination buff. The gaps between wings were added when determination was (Throne of Thunder).

They explained exactly why they did it: To mimic a sense of progression. When determination was added, it became absolutely 100% guaranteed that everyone would beat every boss whenever they tried. And since that meant there was no longer ANY progression in terms of actually beating the bosses, they added the delay between wings, instead.

They were absolutely, 100% crystal clear about that.

Time-gating is a good thing. It stops you from logging in week one and finishing all the content from the new patch with minimal effort.

It takes less time each week to run normal than it does LFR. After a couple months it takes a casual guild less time to clear heroic than it does for a player to clear LFR.

Time is not an excuse.

Only if there is financial gain. it is done that way so lfr players or lore fanatics can stayed subbed for 2 months

It increases fun for LFR players, so yeah. Increasing fun in the game is more important than literally anything else.

You should pug normal at least in the first 2 weeks as a warlock your summoning closet is your biggest boon

At this point have it in 2 halfs.

Do you think removing the determination buff would make the idea more appealing then? Or is there too much risk with losing the buff?

Appeal and risk for whom?

I’m just explaining when they did it, and why they said they did it.

Progress with the best or get left behind like the rest.

Sad but true.

Nope , but it would get rid of "lets wipe 10 times so we can face roll it or think of mechanics " option

For the people who only do LFR, would the removal of the determination buff kill it for enough people and cause no one to queue for it?

I have no idea, I haven’t done LFR since Mists.
