Should There Be New Classes?

I think they should add tinkers and necromancers to the roster and at that point they could truly be done with classes. WoW can truly say that it satisfies every broad class fantasy in the Warcraft universe at that point.

Anything else can probably pass as a niche specialization for existing classes. For example, I could easily see spellblades (which are sometimes requested) as a melee mage spec.

Oh yeah, because WoW is barely profitable, literally on life support now, that’s why they can’t spend some extra dev time do make new classes.

In the world of business, it’s not enough to be profitable. You have to be profitable enough.

Like suppose investing on WoW would give you a billion dollars, but investing the same money on another game would give you 1,1 billion dollars. By investing in WoW you just lost 100 million dollars.

Obviously you never know how much you’ll get from these things, so it’s not that cut and dry. But the basic idea remains: Just being profitable is not enough. Disney closes a lot of profitable studios because they weren’t worth the money.

cloth tank+melee dps

Ideally, would be nice. Realistically - It is okay to take a brief step back and focus on balance and fixes while expanding into new a expansion or two. Same can be said with any new races/allied races.

A breather once in a while or a few extra moments is okay. Then, after that, go for it, don’t go full ham, cause then the dreaded repeat of the bad will reign again for years to come.

That’s actually great explanation. Thank you!

Also, adding new classes would make our, altoholics, lives much more complicated =)

I personally think they should have made Disc Priests a tank spec.

We only need class skins.

Every missing archetype can be achieved that way with no additional complications of balance.

instead of new classes i would love to a new spec for every class. will never happen though they have a hard enough time balancing now

I think there are too many specs for a new class to be added any time soon. There’s too much they need to juggle and the balancing act is such a time sink that they have to sacrifice depth. It may be an unpopular opinion, but I think they should cut out a few of the unnecessary specs - or merge them - before they think about adding 3 more specs they need to juggle.

Shadowlands revamped leveling and character customization. Then the next expac should be class focused and focus on balancing classes and fixing the ilvl system. I like playing a Demon Hunter, but I wouldn’t miss it if it was gone either. I also like Feral but…I think they could combine it with Guardian again. Deathknights and Monks are fine, I think. If you were to remove DH, then Monks should pick up on their high mobility.

I´ll love to play a Necromancer, but i dont know how they’ll make it so it doesn’t look like a reskin warlock

Just bring in the Tinker class, then all of WC3 heroes will have a class assigned to them (and Gnomes and Goblins will actually have a class that fits them).

I’d rather have class skins.

you can easily play a necromancer if they made the class skin for a warlock or dark ranger for hunter.

Yes. Sure there should be more classes.

There can never be too many classes.

However, Blizzard has to learn two things first.

  1. How the f* to balance the already existing classes to all be within 5% of power of each other, that way the choice comes down to how the player wants to play, instead of playing out of a necessity to play what is best.
  2. How the f* to linearly scale power without hyper-inflating stats every gods-be-damned expansion. This is old; This is tiresome; This has outlived its expiration date. I thought Shadowlands would correct this. I seriously thought we were going to go back to Classic levels of stats on gear, starting for the new expansion, and we’d slowly, yet surely, creep up to monumental levels over the next 10 years in to the future. But no, we’re taking that 10 year potential and shrinking it in to 2. For freaking God’s f*ing sake, Blizzard. STOP!

I’d legit love a bard class, support/dps. Not specifically healing, but buffs the raid with haste/mana/crit/whatever. I used to play a bard in EQ waaaaay back in the day and the concept of the class was really cool.

game has been unbalanced since vanilla, so it might as well be unbalanced, but with more classes if its gonna be unbalanced either way.

I would just like to have a 3rd spec for Demon Hunters…maybe a ranged spec with Chakrams. Or even some how a healing spec that heals with fel energy? idk sky’s the limit

No. If anything, some specs need to die and/or be remade.

Mages, for example, should have a true spellward spec…likely Arcane goes away to replace it since literally frost and fire is just a variant of arcane magic to begin with. This spec would be like the boss in Nighthold and would cycle between fire, frost, and “arcane” and would be the first actual caster tank.

Or mages could tap into the forbidden “blood” magic and heal with it.

Warlocks too could theoretically somehow merge with a demon and be a tank.

Assassin or sub rogue needs to go and have a ranged spec in its place. Hunter also should just have 1 melee and range spec…one could even say hunters could have a healing spec to tap into the Overwatch universe

Basically adding new classes really just means things are going to get taken away from existing classes and/or it’ll just be yet another balance thing to manage. I’d argue it is better for Blizzard to limit each class to one spec per role and that all classes should at least have 1 “support” role and not be pure DPS.

Honestly they could roll a lot of “new” classes into another single spec for classes.
