This is no actual troll attempt, if anyone has to ask but the sheer observation of the current situation, in the game and from the community:
- The Worgen player race feels neglected, with the the recent Gilnean quest being made poorly, with no actual meaningful rewards and making the “Gilnean”-heritage armor style available to all player races. Gilneas didn’t even get a portal but just a toy exclusively to Worgen-players, despite both faction having access now to the place.
- They had to hotfix the Gilnean suit three times now and it still has a quality mishap at the butt (literally, just check it right now in the game as a Worgen). Same can be said about a few NPCs and lack of proper care-things within the liberated city.
- The iconic leader of the Worgen, who turned himself to a Worgen to come as an equal, was replaced with his daughter, who isn’t a Worgen and will likely not turn into one (Heritage questline for the Greyguard Elite transmog set)
- Decade-long wishes are denied and even mocked by the developers in the game, showing a distaste for the customer’s requests. And if we want to be truthful, then the male Worgen does not reflect the official artworks as well.
At this point one needs to ask: What’s the point of all of this? The Worgen will canonically die out within one to two generations, because it’s a curse and not a real race. Tess Greymane has become the queen of Gilneas, although she does not represent the race at all as a human.
Wouldn’t it be better just to roll the race into the regular humans now? If Blizzard cared enough, they would have actually done something by now. If the Worgen’s identity is “British human”, then the Worgen will likely turn into a niche fantasy available to all humans or Night Elves (as many have suggested), which isn’t truly maintained by the developers.

The drama from Worgen players astounds me.

It’s a super popular fantasy niche but it’s not well maintained in the game.

To be fair, it’s not as bad as some of the elf threads I’ve seen lol. But I will agree, another thread about how shafted worgen are getting (Which I am definitely on that side of the fence) is…old. There’s plenty of threads like this one that could have been posted into.

No they shouldn’t be rolled into humans. That would be like saying vulpera should be rolled into goblins.
Also, Tess is Gilnean. Not all Gilnean are worgen and not all worgen are gilnean.

During one of these trips, Greymane went ahead by himself in pursuit of a worgen and it ambushed him, biting him in the shoulder before he could shoot it and infecting him with the curse. Knowing that the nobles would shoot him as well if they saw the bite, something he would do himself and would expect no less of them, Greymane panicked. His jacket apparently not damaged, he wiped the blood from his shoulder then ripped off a piece of his satchel to stuff under the shoulder lining (presumably to absorb any bleeding and conceal any deformation of his shoulder) and pulled up the collar as high as it would go. As he hoped, his deception would prove successful.
Genn didnt become a worgen by choice

Oh well, I didn’t remember this clearly then.
Might as well, Blizz might give them customization then.

My issue with worgen:
Human form 5 fingers / toes
Worgen form… 4 fingers / 4 toes but the paw prints left are 5 toe paws.
I can’t unsee and it just ruins them!

There are many races that should be gotten rid of before I’d even look in worgen’s direction. We have red orcs, moose-horned tauren, lite draenei, diaper gnomes, gray dwarves, and soon-to-be rocky dwarves.

Only if you roll Blood Elves into Trolls.
- There shouldn’t be any difference between “in game” and “community”. This implies that “the community” are in fact wrong as they don’t represent any of the people actually playing the game.
Whilst this isn’t a big thing, it is noteworthy because … it does actually make all of these threads stating that there somehow is a “problem” show that there isn’t one. There’s not a mass exodus of players and there’s not legions of folks blowing a gasket over it in-game. Folks expected more for some reason and got disappointed. That’s the full story. Nothing even remotely close to the stuff being said on these or other forums.
- The only real thing one can safely take away from these threads is dear lord above, the amount of people who have never bothered to learn the lore surrounding worgens or the Gilneans in general.
It is quite literally just a massive heap of folks’ fanfics that they are trying to pass off as actual lore.
- Whilst it is possible to have a good faith conversation about these things … not so much in threads like these when they have to open up with “this is no actual troll attempt”. That indicates A LOT about what the thread is going to be about.
If one actually wants to have a good faith conversation about things … just wait until folks have stopped clutching their pearls.

Here we go with this again sighs I have played Worgen since Cataclysm. I have MANY worgen characters. But the gripe over Tess being the leader of Gilneas is just…so strange to me.
I do agree that Worge need more customization, OPTIONAL TAILS, being among them. But the argument here that the fantasy is ruined is mind numbing. Tess does not need to be a Worgen to be Queen of Gilneas. Genn isn’t dead, he’s stated very clearly he’ll still be active, whether you consider this a good thing or not is up to you, And while I do agree that the questline and its rewards were very lackluster and underwhelming, Nothing about Worgen as a race is ruined by this. I understand being upset and frustrated. But instead of making arguments about Scenarios that clearly aren’t going to come to pass. Make honest criticisms and recommendations.
Here’s mine: The story of the Reclamation was not a bad one, it was just too short. It did not have the substance it needed between the beginning and the end to fully capture the weight of the moment. The ending, was perfect. Genn stepping down and passing the burdens to his daughter was a great scene. But there needed to be MORE to the story that led there. A confrontation between Calia and Genn would have been a great Middle Cinematic. Given more weight to Genn’s tensions. Given more substance to Calia’s character.
The Rewards: The rewards were awful, The Transmog has some okayish pieces but as a whole, not good. The mount, it’s a fox, which is fine, but underwhelming. And there NEEDED to be some Worgen exclusive rewards. This was a great time to add some long requested Customization to the race. Tails, Scars, Fur paints and patterns. There were SO many choices.
Blizzard needs to do better. And they need to show some good faith acknowledgement of how they dropped the ball. But the race isn’t ruined, and it doesn’t need to be ‘rolled into human’.

I simply had to post the disclaimer because Americans love to argue about Worgen and Furries way too often for my taste.
This is actually what I do. I do not think that the Worgen race gets enough attention to justify its existence. It’s the typical “make it good the first time around”-issue, when they reworked the Worgen model during BfA or SL. Within DF they also got apparently a talent, which switches them back to human form, right after a battle. For what reason? It makes the player race absolutely worthless, if the main appeal is “human”.
Tess as a character is fine. However: It’s the Alleria issue all over again, but reverted. A former High Elf, who has blonde hair and blue eyes, is the leader of the Void Elves, who were all purple and completely corrupted?
Going forward, the character will be the representative of the Worgen race in all media. Just check the official homepage and who currently represents the race. And that’s the issue here. She isn’t a suitable fit to be a mascot character. It has to be Genn Greymane.
